To keep your valves and your pistons from crashing in to each other with great speed and violence, automakers have recommended service intervals for timing gear components like the timing belt and associated tensioners, rollers, and pulleys. It's not just the toothed rubber belt that's critical here, but the bearings in the rollers and springs and hydraulic dampers in the tensioners that keep your belt snug and turning.

This Uro Parts timing belt tensioner roller is a key component of a timing belt job on your P80 or 960. We strongly suggest replacing either the whole lever arm or this tensioner roller when you're doing your scheduled timing belt service.
