Diagnosis: If your AC blows nice and cold and then suddenly stops working when it gets very hot under the hood, it is possible that you have a failing AC clutch. The trained ear can frequently identify this by noting that the "click" from the compressor clutch stops happening when the system stops cooling, then starts clicking again when it cools down and restores cold air function.
This AC Clutch replacement kit includes the magnet, pulley, pressure plate and new hardware. The pressure plate and pulley on these cars is infamous for failing when it gets very hot due to long term wear of the friction surfaces. On P2 five cylinder cars this job can be patiently accomplished without evacuating the refrigerant in the system. This may be what you need to bring your sporadically functioning unit back into full time service when you need it most.
