2010 Vintage Volvo Challenge April 9-11th

The 2010 Vintage Volvo Challenge at Sears Point Raceway (Infineon) is rapidly gaining momentum and IPD is proud to sponsor this unique Vintage Volvo Racing event.

Alan Berry, the events  organizer and “ramrod”  initially felt that if he got 15 West Coast cars to participate it would be a really good show.

It appears now that 20 rare vintage (pre 1972) race cars are geared up to compete in the event and possibly 25 if all goes well for those still scrambling to get their cars out of storage and back into race condition. Two cars are set to take the "long tow" award, John Parker from Syracuse NY and Gary Jebsen from Leesburg VA, both in rapid P 1800's. Other cars are coming from British Columbia, Washington State, Oregon, Utah and all over California.

If you’ve got a nice Volvo and would like to show it off, the Infineon Car Corral is open to all the nice street cars that will be attending the event all weekend long and is a major part of the fun of this event. Participation will be included with entry to the track. There will be no awards I am aware of but I'm sure the cars will be a joy to see.

Friday (April 9th) will be practice in the afternoon. Saturday will be qualifying in the AM and a race in the afternoon. Saturday evening starting at 6-6:30PM we will have a no host dinner at the pretty Indian Valley Golf Course at Stafford Lake, about 10 miles north west from the track. Capacity is 150 but everyone is welcome. If you come late, bring fold up chairs or expect to stand. They'll keep it open for us as long as we are buying drinks.

Sunday will be practice in the AM and Flag Race in the afternoon. At some point during the weekend we will have a still group shot of all the race cars/drivers on the track with our giant banner.
