Fuel Door Hinge Repair

The fuel door may not be a critical component but it sure does make the car look better when it is properly attached. It’s a sad story but all too common. The plastic fuel door hinges that Volvo has used since the eighties are prone to breakage. Heat cycles, fuel vapors and the occasional ham fisted fueling visits make missing fuel doors a fairly common sight in the Volvo community. Fortunately, the fix isn’t nearly as hard as you think. Though the punch pin fasteners look a little strange, most DIY'ers can fix the problem with basic hand tools in the driveway at home.
