Product Description
This is a replacement gear selector (shifter) button for models with Geartronic and without the metal pin in the button (automatic with manual up/down shift mode.)
Please see the product images for help determining if your Volvo has geartronic or not.
Volvo does not sell the button separately and will sell you an expensive shifter assembly.
Just to complicate matters further, Volvo changed the style of the GearTronic shifter around 2004. The newer shifter has a metal pin in the button. The common failure is the plastic breaking and the pin falling out. We haven't been able to determine if all later models use the pin style button or if it's just some of them.
Unfortunately, it is very difficult to tell which button is in the shifter until you pull the button out (see product images.)
Potential Product Fitment Issues
This button only fits models with GearTronic shifters (see product images to determine if you have GearTronic.)
There are two styles of GearTronic shifters and they use different buttons. It is pretty much impossible to determine which button your shifter uses unless you can see the backside of the button:
