Automatic transmissions are sensitive, precision-engineered hydraulic machines, with a carefully coordinated dance of fluid pressure, valve opening, solenoid actuation, and software all doing their part to get the engine's power to the road as efficiently as possible. The right ATF is essential in automatic transmissions, which are designed with specific friction and viscosity requirements in mind.
Motul's Multi-ATF is slightly thicker than modern low-viscosity fluids, so it fits the bill nicely for older four- and five-speed automatics. It meets standards like Dexron III/Mercon V, ZF/ESSO LT71141, and Toyota T-IV / Mobil 3309. Synthetic base stocks and high detergent levels give it superior cold weather performance, high temperature and heavy load shear stability, and longevity and durability compared to conventional or blended fluids. It's great for transmissions or power steering systems calling for a fluid with these specs, and comes with an integrated, pop-out pour spout, no funnel required.
