If the temp gauge in your instrument cluster is not reading accurately (or at all) the coolant sensor may be to blame.
Additional Technical Information
This sensor is calibrated a little differently compared to the OEM Volvo (VDO) sensor. On cars with working sensor voltage stabilization circuits this shouldn't be noticeable, but on bypassed/unstabilized cars the FAE sensor will read slightly higher at operating temperature. Sensor function is otherwise just like the OE sensor.
