Are You Ready to Cut the Cable?
For the last few years IPD has been working on our next generation wireless softloader. While the retail version of this groundbreaking device is still pending, we do have a handful of beta versions which we have been productively and successfully using at our west coast facility. Now we can make these beta tuning versions available as customer “loaners” paired to a wireless hot spot.
This means that anyone in range of decent wireless data reception can now have an IPD tune remotely installed in their Volvo. These are not the retail versions that will include diagnostics, streaming gauges and a host of other apps for your cell phone, but they can and will install upgraded engine performance through the OBD2 port in your car. Yes, you are reading correctly, our staff can remotely tune your car and all you need to provide is a battery charger and about 30 minutes on the phone with IPD.
How Does it Work?
1. Order one of our loaner packages on the website or telephone our customer service team, this package includes a $500 equipment deposit and the tune price. You will receive one of our wireless devices and a hot spot by standard shipping methods.
2. Arrange an appointment with IPD to remotely tune your car (about 30 minutes during regular business hours) in any location with good wireless data coverage. Hook up a battery charger, plug in the device and call IPD. There are a few basic ignition switch movements that you will need to make.
3. Ship back the device and hot spot, using the included pre-paid shipping label, for a refund of the $500 deposit. Enjoy your new found performance and grin like a fool.
About Our Tunes
Upgrading the engine management software and exhaust on your turbo Volvo is the most effective way to improve output. You can expect to see realistic and measurable gains from 33 to 53 HP depending on the model. Since 1994 we have provided the world¹s most effective and reliable upgrades. We develop performance calibrations optimized for the North American market that retain full factory functionality, drivability and emission levels.
If you spend much time on popular Volvo performance enthusiast forums, you might have noticed that we are occasionally referred to as being too conservative in our tuning since some Volvo tuners publish higher horsepower specs than we do. Some of our competitors do make a couple of more peak HP, but if you do your homework, you will find that our upgrades provide superior real world performance and the reason is because we focus on developing the most area under the power curve with smooth linear power delivery.
It's our goal to provide you with software upgrades that deliver maximum power levels as advertised as well as being reliable without overstressing the car¹s power-train. It might be possible to squeeze a few more ponies from certain models by running a bit more boost, but careful research and development combined with more than 20 years of experience in upgrading the Volvo 5 and 6-cylinder Turbo models have made our upgrades the most respected and successful in the industry.
Stage Zero?
When upgrading, it seems logical that you would want to make sure that the engine is in top tune, but this is often overlooked in the quest for instant performance gratification, which often results in poor performance from your upgrades. The increased loads can cause misfiring and other unpleasant issues. The Stage "ZERO" idea is simply that you should perform these steps before making upgrades to the engine in your Volvo if it is more than 5 years old or has more than 50,000 miles on it. These components may be functioning fine at stock performance levels but they may not at greater demand.
Stage ZERO Tuning List:
- Spark plugs
- Air, fuel and oil filter service
- Trans fluid flush
- Inspect & replace vacuum lines and IC piping rubber
- Upgrade to silicone hoses where possible
- Clean intercooler / intercooler plumbing
- Compression and cylinder leak down test
- Turbocharger health check

A Core Charge is a refundable deposit added to the price of a product by a manufacturer as a bounty to encourage the return of rebuildable cores.
Cores must be in rebuildable condition to qualify for refund. This means they must be undamaged, mostly assembled and not missing major parts.
Cores must be returned in the manufacturer's box with part number markings to qualify for refund. Typically, the core is returned in the box that contained the replacement product.
Core return and any shipping associated with it is the customer's responsibility.
Available to Order means the item may not be in our warehouse but is readily available from one or more supplier warehouses. After you order it, we will get it for you ASAP.
Products from major brand names are almost always in stock in the manufacturer’s domestic warehouse. These suppliers have good fill rates, but even if they are out of stock, we may be able to source it from a variety of alternative wholesale sources.
We are at the most a week away from all these warehouses, usually much less. Does that mean we will always have your product available within that window? Honestly, we can't promise that but we’ll do everything we can to get your parts to you in a timely manner.
