To reduce shock loads on the belt accessory drive, accessories like alternators on modern Volvos often come with decoupler or "coast-down" pulleys. A one-way clutch in the pulley locks it when the engine RPMs increase, but allow the alternator to freewheel and spin down gradually when the RPMs drop.
This Genuine Volvo dust cap snaps over the end of the pulley, protecting the clutch/bearing inside.
Potential Product Fitment Issues
Cap has a 52.5mm inner diameter, and should fit over alternators with a 53mm pulley. We suggest measuring your pulley before ordering.
Cars which came with a compatible alternator:
P2 S60 and V70: cars with a 120 amp or 140 amp alternator.
P2 S80: cars with a 120 amp, 140 amp, or 160 amp alternator.
P80 S70/V70/C70: cars with a 100 amp or 120 amp alternator.
