Product Description

One of the shortcomings on most Volvo models since the early 90’s is the exposure of the fragile cast aluminum oil pan. Many of these pans have been sacrificed to bouncing debris, curbs and parking stops. This has never been more true than it is for the current full size chassis line from Sweden. On many of these models the front of the pan is completely exposed or covered by a thin fiber splash guard. These cloth-like guards shred easily when battered by ice chunks in bad weather. At IPD, we felt this situation needed to be remedied.

Our new aluminum skid plate directly replaces the cloth factory shield while providing far greater impact and debris protection for the power-plant in your car. Installation requires no modification at all using the factory mounting points and supplied hardware. Unlike the factory splash guard, the IPD skid plate has a conveniently placed opening to allow changing the oil without removal. This plate is powder coated for corrosion protection and long life. This may not make your family wagon a Baja racer, but it sure will help with a little peace of mind in your daily rat race.

*Please note that these skid plates are designed and punched to have all the correct service access ports for the 5 & 6 cylinder models. If you have a 4 cylinder model you'll need to remove the plate for oil changes just like with the factory pan.

Potential Product Fitment Issues

These plates will bolt onto the 4 cylinder models just fine and of course offer great protection.

However, please note that these skid plates are designed and punched to have all the correct service access ports for the 6 and 5 cylinder models. If you have a 4 cylinder model you'll need to remove the plate for oil changes just like with the factory pan as the oil drain hole does not align with the service cutouts.
