Potential Product Fitment Issues
This boot only fits models with SMI brand steering racks.
These models were originally equipped with SMI racks:
- 1999 S70 AWD with Chassis Number 572015 and higher
- 1999-2000 V70 AWD/XC with Chassis Number 549831 and higher
- 1995-1998 international (non-US) 850s had the option of an SMI or TRW rack. Get under your car and confirm which rack you have for:
- Sedans: chassis number 220744 and higher
- Wagons: chassis number 120549 and higher
- 1998-2000 S70 FWD with 8 digit Product IDs ending in Steering Rack Code "5"
- 1998-2000 V70 FWD with 8 digit Product IDs ending in Steering Rack Code "5"
- 1998-2004 C70 with 8 digit Product IDs ending in Steering Rack Code "5"
Early production FWD S70s or V70s may have a 7 digit Product ID, and those cars have TRW steering racks. Later cars with 8 digit Product IDs ending in steering rack code "4" also have TRW racks.
If your car has an 8-digit Product ID, the Steering Rack Code is the last digit. Please check the tech tips below for more info about your Product ID plate and chassis number, or compare inner tie rods using the pictures below:
