Product Description
Adapting an aftermarket stereo head unit in S60 and V70 models can be a challenge due to the specifically molded trim panel for the Volvo radio. Luckily, Volvo also produces alternate trim panels for different head unit configurations.
This trim panel is a direct replacement for the factory stereo and side panel. The opening in this panel is a dual "DIN" configuration. A DIN slot is a standardized stereo size measurement. This panel allows you to install any standardized DIN sized aftermarket stereo into the opening. Being a dual DIN configuration means you'll also have a 2nd opening for a DIN sized pocket, or anything else you'd like to install there.
Additionally, it is possible to use this panel to install a double DIN sized aftermarket stereo. However, doing so requires you to shave off the side "guide rails" on the opening. If you go this route and alter the trim panel it is un-returnable. Depending on which aftermarket double DIN head unit you use you may also have to make some alterations to the trim panel "sleeve" to allow for proper mounting of the aftermarket head unit cage. Some aftermarket double DIN units do NOT include a matching trim bezel to cover the mounting cage. For a clean install ensure you use a head unit that does include a bezel. Otherwise you'll be left with a gap around head unit.
