ipd Partners with Gluon

Tuesday, March 7, 2017 - ipd staff

ipd has been known as the Volvo Specialist for decades. This isn’t just a catchphrase for us. We have specialized in developing heavy duty and performance products specifically for Volvo for over 50 years! We are committed to applying resources making your Volvo perform better whether that be through providing high quality maintenance items, manufacturing suspension solutions, or helping you achieve safe and reliable performance gains.

For decades, we’ve worked with some of the most skilled Volvo tuners in the world to offer performance tunes that dramatically increase power without compromising reliability or drivability. Over the years, we’ve offered various methods to get these tunes installed in your Volvo but none of those processes were very convenient. We've also been working to make tunes more accessible. We’re proud to introduce a game changing device that will make tuning easy through your mobile phone or handheld app and the wireless Gluon device. To be clear, we are not offering new tunes but rather a better way of delivering our tunes to your Volvo.

ipd has partnered with Gluon (www.gluon.com), a technology company that has developed a patent-pending hardware solution to connect into the OBDII port and tune a vehicle. The Gluon device communicates with a cloud server, which catalogs and assembles tune files specifically for each customers Volvo. Each customer is able to control and monitor the process through a personal wireless device such as a cell phone or tablet (iOS and Android).

To celebrate this new partnership with Gluon we've reduced the price for new tunes from $725 to $595.

If you want to be a part of ipd history, please contact Chris Delano chris@ipdusa.com or Ken Pruett ken@ipdusa.com to schedule an appointment. We have two locations, one in Portland, Oregon and another in Livermore, California.

We look forward to hearing from you!

What about tuning options for 850's and 1998 70 Series (Motronic 4.3 & 4.4)?

I assume by the info provided only people living in California or Oregon can apply to be a tester for this? Is that correct?

Looks like this is only available for Volvo owners in 2 states...I am more than willing to be a 'beta' tester but my 2007 XC70 (desperately needs/wants an IPD Tune) lives in NY. What can be done for Volvo owners in other states? Tony in NY

Any other way to get this deal. I have a 2004 S60R that would be perfect for the test. Just can't get to SF or Oregon.

My car may have been tuned by IPD prior to my purchase of it. Is there a way to determine if my hunch is correct? Bob

So iPd is searching for Volvo owners that would like to volunteer their cars to help test the new Gluon device?? I own a 2006 S60R, but the ECU (and other stuff) already been tuned by ARD Tuning in Hillsboro. Are only stock cars being considered??

ipd is working close with Gluon to test how their cloud servers assembles the tune files. ipd/Gluon currently only works on fully networked vehicles. It will not work on S/V70 -98 models. We will be updating this blog giving you detailed information about new features and when the consumer model will be available. At this time we're beta testing in Oregon and California collecting data. If you're interested in purchasing a tune, ipd will continue to test using the Gluon device. For more details please contact Chris or Ken at ipd anytime. Thank you for your support!

Is there a workshop to help the woefully out of date person? I have a 99 S70 AWD GLT and I am wanting (sic) to up the boost or what ever else there is to gat granny rolling. I already have IPD suspension-within in reason-and the handling is so much better! I installed the strongest boost relief spring IPD offers and..... Now what? Dane Burt

Since there is limited places in the U.S. doing Volvo ecu performance tuning, it would be nice for you to make a "piggyback performance module" so that it can be shipped anywhere and also go back to stock parameters anytime due to Volvo warranty servicing. I believe many of us recent performance oriented Volvo fans who don't own the factory Polestar model usually have the Drive-E T6 where we are desperate enough to get the Polestar Optimization tune at the "stealership." Is the Glucon product similar to a "piggyback performance module," and is it fully compatible with an already Polestar Optimization tuned car?

Can you tune my 242gt kjet? :-P lambda sond!

Friday, June 9, 2017 - CHRISTOPHER DELANO

Jacob- Email has been sent direct to you. Dana- Right now the only option we can perform for you on that vehicle is having you send us your ECU. The ECU comes out pretty easy. We have tunes available for your car, but we have to perform them at our tuning station located here in Portland. Thank you for the message Peter- Once we launch our consumer device you will have the ability to go back and forth between your stock and upgraded tune. We will also release many new features for clearing DTC's, datalogging, and monitoring. Right now we're testing with our local repair centers and in our area. We're hoping the consumer tool will be ready soon for you to take advantage of these features. Keep an eye out for more updates. Thank you for the feedback.
