Daniel Vigil Visits ipd

2014-08-28 - ipd

Over the years ipd has worked with various charity organizations. Being a good steward and leading by example has been the foundation for ipd’s success. Each year ipd works with a non-profit organization helping raise funds and awareness benefiting their cause. The summer of 2014 will be one for the history books. We had the opportunity to work with one individual that changed the life for all of us here at ipd.

We received a call in July from the Make A Wish Foundation in Colorado. Make A Wish informed us of an 18 year old boy named Daniel. Daniel  was recently diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer. One of his options through Make A Wish was to go on a shopping spree. Being a Volvo enthusiasts he instantly thought of ipd and all the Volvo products he could install on his 1997 850 wagon. Daniel put together a full list of components ranging from maintenance to some performance goodies. Prior to Daniels arrival we contacted some of our vendors and informed them of Daniels condition. With the help from Make A Wish and our vendors, we were able to fulfill Daniel’s product wish list.

Make A Wish flew Daniel and his family to our facility in Portland Oregon on August 27th. The entire staff at ipd was anxiously awaiting his arrival. Every employee gathered outside when a shiny black stretched limo pulled into the parking lot. Daniel opened the door and jumped out greeting each member of the ipd team. Daniel instantly noticed all the products laid out on display for him. The entire ipd team stood back and smiled as Daniel looked over all the products soon to be shipped home for his 850 Volvo.

We planned a full day for Daniel. After putting on his authentic ipd button up, he was officially part of our team. Daniel had full access to the entire company. He met with each team member gaining insight as to how we operate as an automotive parts supplier. After lunch we took Daniel out to our video studio where he was featured in one of our new product promotional videos. Daniel approved and spoke about some of the functionality on our new skid plate for late model Volvo cars. Following his video debut we took him outside where we had the ipd project cars lined up. We gave Daniel the choice to pick any car he wanted to drive. He picked the 2004 V70R for his first joy ride. He was able to drive our 2011 S60 T6 AWD project car and wrapped up with Bud Cowgill’s S60R. After spending 10-15 minutes flogging each car, the excitement caught up with Daniel. It was time to call it a day with our special guest.

It was a true honor to spend the day with such an amazing person like Daniel. His positive attitude was infectious. We are all blessed Daniel chose our company for his wish.  Ipd would like to thank Daniel for allowing us to spend the day with him. There are no words to describe the emotions and gratitude we feel each day because of him. We hope all of Daniels wishes come true. We’re so excited he drives a Volvo and was able to share a little bit of his life with us. We will continue to support Daniel in his fight against cancer.
