I just finished installing my iPod Adapter in my 1996 850 wagon and am overjoyed with it! I am sure that my wife will want one in her 2000 S70 now.

The installation went very smoothly after calling IPD and determining that the DVD instructions were in error. The DVD is probably for a previous version of the kit (older cables), but is still very good.

The kit is made for several cars (primarily Honda) and the special Volvo cable now connects directly between the adapter and the radio, not to the Honda cable (as shown on the DVD). Just throw the Honda cable away. This is a big improvement, in my opinion.

The DVD instructions for the 850 say that two console screws are T-25, but were actually 8mm hex. Another confusing point is that the two power wires you have to splice (Yellow and Red) go to wires that are Red and Yellow (Red to Yellow, and Yellow to Red). No big deal, but be alert for minor things like this.

You will need a stubby T-15 and T-25 driver, as standard length drivers are too long to fit in the available space. You might also need an 8mm hex driver, depending on what screws Volvo used on your car.

My kit came with a Design Change Notice which supersedes the Owner's Manual, so watch for it. I think it is a big improvement over the original instructions.

The cables are long enough to mount the adapter just about any place. I would recommend putting it in the glove box instead of behind the radio, as the DVD shows. It's really crowded back there and there's no good place to mount it. You might try taking out the glove box and see if there is space back there to mount it.

Take your time running the iPod cable to the center console to make sure it doesn't get pinched. It's not difficult, just time consuming. If you don't want to disassemble the center console, you can run it to the glove compartment, which would be a *LOT* easier and just as convenient. Plus, you could then keep your iPod locked up all the time.

The current (June 2010) version of the adapter has two RCA (stereo) input jacks for aux input. If you think you might use it, before you start installation, I suggest that you go to a local electronics or stereo store and get an adapter cable with a 1/8" stereo plug to two RCA plugs. This will make it a lot easier to connect your audio gadgets, without having to dig into wherever you mount the adapter box.

Works like a charm. Installation DVD was clear and concise. I installed the controller in my glove box and have both iPod and Headphone cables in my center console. The device will switch between iPod and RCA depending on which is sending a signal. My iPod has a new home.

The IPOD adapter was easy to install if you follow the instructional video IPD adds to the kit.
I made the extra effort to install the cable in the console box, The CD changer controls work beautifully to control the IPOD playlists.
Cameron and Ron really helped out here.

Install was a breeze with the included installation DVD. I chose this kit in large part because it also includes the option of connecting a standard 1/8" mini-jack line in which allows you to connect any portable device, not just an ipod. I haven't run the cables into the center console yet, but getting the device wired in took approximately 30 minutes.

I had the kit installed in under 30 min and is so easy to do. All my power upgrades are useless during Seattle's rush hour, but this helps me rock out all the time. I have made the center console my iPod's home for good.

Yesterday I have installed the iPod adapter and... it works great! Now I can enjoy my complete music collection by the click on a button.

Due to the detailled and clear installation intructions by IPD the installation was a piece of cake.

Great product!
