Light Bulbs Exterior

Had these in both back-up lamps on my 745T. Worked fine for a number of years but recently noted both back-up lenses showed evidence of melting. When I pulled the bulbs I found they had slight coating of grime as did the other bulbs in the tail-light assemblies. Believe that the seal around the plastic lenses and the light subassembly degraded enough to allow contaimiants in and bulbs overheated. Now back to running regular bulbs.

I have had these for several years now and CANNOT live without them!!When it is REALLY dark out they shine like headlights on everything behind me.ESPECIALLY when it is not only dark,but dark and raining.No more putting the car in reverse and hoping i don't hit something that i didn't see.Now i can see EVERYTHING behind me and can back up with confidence!!
WARNING:Since these are HALOGEN bulbs,when installed you MUST NOT TOUCH THE BULB GLASS with your bare hands!!!!!!!!!!!The oil from your skin(which is what allows you to leave fingerprints on everything you touch)will cause these and any other halogen bulbs to overheat and fail prematurely.Also since they are much brighter and run hotter as a result,one should not leave the car in reverse for long periods with these bulbs shinning.As they could possibly melt the plastic housing around them.

These bulbs are bright but, not well made. I've replaced a lot of all kinds bulbs during my 470m miles on my 1983 245 wagon over the years. I was really looking forward to improving the light tossed by these halogen back up bulbs. The light is fine but, I only got to install one of them. I brushed the other on my arm and the bulb came right out of the socket, with almost no resistance. I'm giving this a 3 as a blended review, great brightness but weak quality control. I have been a professional bicycle and home car mechanic for 30 years, so yes, I have some experience with delicate installations, this part is not up the the usual IPD quality standard.

I have had these now about three years and can´t live without them anymore. Excellent light and they just not give too much heat inside lamps. Safe to use and it is excellent that you can see clearly what is behind of you. Must to have in any car!
