I have a 1986 745tic w/ M-46. I am running Bilstien HD's, TME sport springs, Poly bushings up front, front and rear 25mm sway bars w/ poly bushings. This was a huge improvement to the handling of the car on the winding mountain roads every morning. Then I installed the upper and lower chassis brace kit and WOW! These braces take the whole package of suspension upgrades and ties them together to work as a system! It is a night and day difference in the handling after installing these braces! Now I'm hopping that IPD will some day build and sell sub-frame connectors or some sort of floor brace to really make the car stiff.

The upper and lower braces made a tremendous difference, making the whole car, particularly from the front. Bumps are now absorbed through the suspension, not the chasis flex, and steering input is much more directly transmitted to turning the car, not twisting the chassis. With the braces, the car is ready to take on the IPD sway bars, which I also highly recommend.
