Here is the reason I wake up in the morning. My family. My wife Amber and I have been married nearly 10 years and we have two amazingly wonderful and mischievious children. They are great kids that are amazing to watch grow. Molly is nearly 3 and Amos is almost 1 1/2. They are absolutely hilarious and I don't know what I would do without them in my life. Amber supports me no matter what crazy idea is floating around in my little brain. Those crazy little ideas, by the way, usually revolve around a feature I want to add to the 140. Our life is full of adventure as we raise these two precious little people that we've been blessed enough to care for.

I currently work as ipd's marketing coordinator and graphic designer. I was an ipd customer for many years before I became an employee September of 2006. I currently own 4 vintage cars. My favorite and current daily driver is my blue 1970 142s. Tons of work has been put into this car with an enormous amount of help from my dad who somehow sucked me into these Swedish monsters. It's now an addiction I can't quite conquer and it's gotten to the point where I'm not sure if I want to. These cars are so fun to drive. I'm currently working on the interior dash of the car creating a custom aluminum cover for the face, custom knobs, adding a few gauges etc. I plan on making aluminum door lock pins and bezels, updating my stereo system and a few other little additions and will post photos soon. It has pretty much every ipd product available and has had an incredible amount of body work done... again.... my dad. I had an idea of what I wanted and my dad helped make it a reality. I truly consider this car my dad's as much as it is my own. The other 142 is a 1972 that has a nicely done b230 conversion done to it. It's a beautiful car that I recently sold to buy the 240 but comes into ipd for all it's car care needs.

UPDATE: I'm currently in the process of finalizing my custom dash face. It's made of aluminum and has a few more gauges and toggles for various things. My last little project is to replace the old stock knobs and faces. I've lathed some new faces and now need to make the actual knob that the faces will sit in. The faces will be anodized black and laser etched with the labels of what they control. I'll get a picture up asap so you can see what I'm talking about. I'm pretty happy with the dash but you be the judge.

I did one other experiment over the weekend and that was to add a custom racing stripe. At this point it's only on the hood. I need to decide if I like it. If I do, I'll carry the strip all the way to the back of the car. My wife doesn't like it but it's kinda growing on me. Let me know what you think.

I also reluctantly had to add a front licence plate to the car because I've been pulled over 3 times in a month recently because I didn't have a front plate. That infuriates me. I think the only reason they pulled me over was out of curiousity of what the car was. Whatever. The license plate bracket was actually pretty cool to figure out how to make and I hate to say it but I kinda like the way it breaks up the front end of the car.

I've also mounted my 800 watt Sony XPlod amp just under the glove box. You can kinda see it in the photo below. It powers my two 10 inch subs that I have in the trunk.

See pictures at right and let me know what you think...

My current 140 and my former 140

As an experiment I've added a racing stripe

I had to make a custom licence plate hanger to mount a front plate to satisfy the po-po in my hood.

My nearly complete all aluminum dash face. My final piece is to make aluminum knobs to replace the factory ones.

Here's another shot of the dash. The knobs on the left are the culprit. I'll be creating new knobs within the next few weeks. They will be solid, polished aluminum with black anodized faces with laser etched lettering. This will help it to go with the theme of the rest of the dash. Everything else has a nice polished ring with black centers and white lettering.

I also have 1967 122s wagon that I'm constantly upgrading and improving. I'd like this to be my next project car once the 140 is finished. I'd really rather like to modify a sedan rather than a wagon but I'm sure something will come along if it's meant to be. It's a gorgeous car that I can take little to no credit for. Most of the work had been done before I bought it from a nice guy in the Tri-Cities area of Washington state. I drive this as my daily driver when my 140 is out of commission for repairs or when I simply miss driving it. The picture doesn't show them but it also rolls on 15 inch Panasport wheels which are pretty sweet looking.

My wife drives a 1990 240 wagon that's been lowered with ipd coils and has ipd anti-sway bars. She got tired of driving the 122 with the kids in the back and I couldn't dissagree. We needed a safer and more reliable car to haul the kids around in. I wasn't a fan of the 240's but it quickly grew on me and she loves that car and it's important that she does. There's nothing worse than driving a car you hate. That's not an issue with our family.

1990 245 Specs and Mods:

I also still have the 1971 145 I drove in high school. It hasn't been driven in a while and is bone stock except for a weber carb but this car is on my list of projects. I'm not sure what I want to do with it as far as modifications. Probably not much if any except for sway bars and lowering springs. I'd really like to do something with a 122, either with my 67 or find a 122 sedan to mod. I'm sure if it's meant to be then the car will find me. Isn't that always the way it works?

  • Weber carb
  • Bone stock
