He went on to finish 8th in the championship points after running less than half the races. He consistently finished ahead of car makes like: BMW, Renault, Mazda, AMC, Ford and Datsun.
The car still holds B-Sedan track records at Portland Int’l Raceway (PIR) and Sears Point (Infineon) where he won the Pacific Coast Road Race of Champions (PCRRC) B-sedan race in 1981 while claiming the qualifying and race lap record. The car competitively in both IMSA and SCCA events and featured in many automotive magazines such as Road & Track and AutoWeek.
The car was restored by Rob Gordon (Richard’s son who owns Vol-Tech) and is a formidable competitor in Vintage VP-2 class today.
