Automatic Over-Drive Solenoid Bypass Kit If the overdrive has stopped functioning in your 1983-1995 240, 740 or 760 with automatic transmission we now have an economical fix for the most common failures. The most common failures are the relay ($48), the solenoid ($144) and wiring which can run well over a hundred dollars to trouble shoot and repair. Our new Solenoid block off kit, bypasses the entire system and allows the trans to shift in and out of overdrive automatically. How many times have you used the OD button on the shift lever to shift down for hills or while towing? It’s really not necessary for most drivers. Please check fitment listed below to ensure products will fit your specific vehicle. Some products may include or exclude some model years or engine and transmission combinations. The products listed on our website are for Volvos sold in the North American market. Many of the parts are exactly the same as those used in other markets, however we cannot guarantee fitment for those markets.

I just installed this bypass kit on my 1991 Volvo 740 178000k and drove it down the road. It worked exactly as described and went on as easily as well. Only paid $100 for the car and it runs good but wasn't going into overdrive. So now it is just fine and my 30 minute commute isn't as bad anymore. Thanks guys

Man, isn't that little piece make a difference. Took me longer to get the car jacked and get the tools then to put it on the car. Really happy, my 240 has overdrive again.

worked like a champ! my od light isnt on either so basically a win win situation for me! took literally 3 minutes to do. well worth it! thanks alot guys. the 1990 740 wagon rides again. only at 347K at the moment with plenty more to go!!!

Works as advertised. Got up here to Alaska in short order and installed just as fast. I PB blasted the bolts a day before hand and they came out easy with the 12 mm flex wrench. Put driver side on jackstand, cleaned area with air, brake cleaner and toothbrush to avoid dirt falling into open solenoid area. Did make the mistake of installing plate without making sure BOTH O rings were out! Had to make second trip in after test ride. Oh well.With the added gear now, this should pay for itself in time.

I love, love this invention! I knew either my solenoid or relay was kaput so I did a bit of research and found this puppy. I had my friend who is a mechanic install it for me and the instant I hit the freeway I knew my problemo was fixed! No more 3500-4000 RPM's just to hit 55. The $38 for this puppy was well worth it!

Ipd, you've made this girl very happy! My boyfriend installed this piece onto my '94 940 Turbo last night, and I didn't dread my 45 minute commute this morning like I have been for the last few months. My car is back to shifting properly and I don't need to drive like an old lady to get decent gas mileage anymore. My only complaint is that for the price, it would have been nice if a couple of new bolts were included. Other than that, I'm pleased beyond belief. Now if only you guys offered more parts for my baby...
