Overdrive Relay

Overdrive Relay

When your manual overdrive has stopped working, the switch in the shift knob could be the cause, or it could be the relay. Check out these inexpensive solutions as well as the fuse and wiring before you decide you need a new transmission! Another solution to an overdrive that doesn’t work could be the fourth gear contact switch that mounts to the transmission. It could be an easy solution to a major problem.

Please check fitment listed below to ensure products will fit your specific vehicle. Some products may include or exclude some model years or engine and transmission combinations. The products listed on our website are for Volvos sold in the North American market. Many of the parts are exactly the same as those used in other markets, however we cannot guarantee fitment for those markets.

ipd does not charge your credit card until the product actually ships from our warehouse.

Customer Product Reviews

3523804 Reviewed by JohnRobertson from Australia

Before you throw out a perfectly good switch check the soldering connections on it.
I found micro cracks in the solder so I re soldered the switch on our three cars .

ipd customer service response: Cracks in the solder is the most common reason for failure in overdrive relays. In many cases, the cracks cause enough resistance that the resulting heat actually damages the relay beyond repair.
