I mentioned via Facebook that I had an interesting experience last Winter 2008 which has left a very sound impression on my attitude towards my awesome 850.

My family drove far out of town into the mountains for the yearly Christmas exodus and I thankfully insisted we take my Volvo as opposed to my wife's Dodge Caliber because it was snowing very badly and was expected to be worse the higher in elevation we went. Having made the 60 mile drive without incident driving on only 4 Goodyear Aquatreads I again insisted we take the Volvo when the discovery was made that we had forgotten diapers for the little one.

Although the snow in the yards was piled up several feet, the town roadways were basically packed ice with a small layer of powder. Utilizing "Winter Mode" the Volvo securely started moving forward from 3rd gear building up momentum and never failed to repeat the task at every stop sign (and the 1 stop light in town).  Once we made it back near the house I noticed a few people trying to push their little Hyundai Elantra back into their driveway with little success. One thing led to another and before long I had strapped a thick blanket to my front bumper to prevent scratches and the 850 in all it's reliable glory was pushing this little Korean up the road and into it's driveway.

It goes without saying the other family was very thankful but my family was so impressed with the performance that we now have a total of 3 '96 850s - 2 GLTs and 1 light turbo.

Recently I have upgraded all 4 brakes with slotted disks and ceramic rear and semi-metallic front pads. I was also incredibly impressed with the improvement the tune-up kit (iridium plugs, IPD wires, MSD coil, etc.) provided and couple that with the new upper stability mount and not only is the throttle more responsive but the engine is far more calm at idle and my mileage has improved by 2-3 mpg (except with the heater on all the time). More and more I am impressed with the offerings from IPD and your customer service has been outstanding.

I could go on and on about my GLT but won't for now.
