Tie Rods and Ball Joints Ball joints and tie rods are key components in your suspension and steering system. These are parts that need to be replaced before they fail. Tie rods ensure that the act of steering results in the front wheels turning the direction you want to go (this is really important stuff). Ball joints hold the front wheels on the car (also really important). Failure of either component can have disastrous results - if yours are more than 10 years or over 50,000 miles, inspect them soon and arrange for replacement if they show any signs of wear.

Steering Couplers If your steering feels loose and you’ve confirmed that the bushings, ball joints, tie rods and steering box adjustment are all in good order, check your steering coupler. Early 122’s used a round rubber disc, later 122’s used two grommets. 1800’s used a different coupler altogether. Our 122 couplers are polyurethane instead of rubber and competitively priced when compared with OEM parts. Choose your coupler from the photo.

Wheel Bearing Kits The company that now makes Volvos used to make bearings. As you might guess, the bearings they made for their cars were over-engineered and regularly last for decades - if they stay lubed. If you get rhythmic squeaking or clicking noises from the front of the car, check your bearings. If you see any blue discoloration, scoring or other physical damage, replace them at your earliest convenience.
