Is That a 140?
It is past due for ipd to acknowledge one of the newer assets to our team. Bryan Cottrell joined the ipd staff a little more than a year ago to work on marketing and publications. You’ve probably seen his fingerprints all over your newsletters already. A graduate of graphic design at Portland State University, Bryan is part of a family that is very familiar to the staff at ipd.
To say that Bryan grew up in a Volvo saturated environment is not an exaggeration. As a young rebellious man he was convinced he wanted the rough and ready image that came with owning a Jeep but somehow he ended up in Swedish steel anyway. He owns 122, 140 and 240 series cars but his ’70 142 is certainly the car that stops feet and drops jaws wherever it goes.
Bryan bought this car when he was 21, though with school and marriage it took a couple years to finish. It is mildly hot-rodded by our standards, still it’s not really the mechanical performance that grabs the limelight. Some inspiration was drawn from the ipd 142 of years gone by but even that car never reached the shaved, stripped and frenched minimalism of this Swedish brick. Public accolades followed with a third place at the VCOA national in Portland in 2000. He never really stops tweaking on this car looking to reach his version of that perfect Scandinavian ride. To view other projects Bryan is working on see his staff member page at ipdusa.com. |

New Newsletter Format Believe it or not, we here at ipd spend a lot of time thinking about how to serve our customers better. We try a lot of different things some work great and some don’t pan out as well as we’d hoped. The bottom line is that we’re here for you and feel privileged to be able to help you keep your Volvo in tip top shape! As part of our continued effort to serve you and your Volvo’s needs better we’re separating our newsletters similar to how we separate our annual catalogs. That is, we’ll be focusing this newsletter exclusively on the 544, 122, 1800, 140 and 164 series models. The goal is to bring you just the products that most pertain to you. Another advantage of switching to this format is that it allows us more space for enriched content and helpful tech tips. To help us in this venture we want to hear from you! Tell us what kind of products you’d like us to carry, what projects you’re currently working on (send us pictures too!), your favorite Volvo links on the web, or anything else Volvo! You can email me directly at ken@ipdusa.com or you can write us as well at PO Box 20339 Portland, OR 97294. Do you own a 200, 700, 900 series Volvo or a newer model Volvo as well? Make sure to tell us what model Volvo(s) you currently own so we can ensure we send you the correct mailers for your cars! |
RalliTEK’s New Family Member
ipd's installation and service facility known as RalliTEK welcomes our newest member Elliot McLain to the family! Elliot is now part of the RalliTEK install facility and is our resident Volvo technician. He has been turning a wrench for the last 13 years and has spent time in dealerships from Alaska to Oregon. His most recent dealership experience was DeLon Volvo in Salem, but as a well rounded technician Elliot has spent time in independents too so he is familiar with both sides of the repair industry. He drives a 1983 240 wagon and outside of restoring old cars, including rewiring his dads 57 Chev bel air two door, he enjoys black and white photography and painting with acrylics. Quite the Renaissance man! So if you’re in our neck of the woods stop in and say hi to Elliot and the rest of the RalliTEK service team!
