As Volvo owners we know how durable our cars are and we’re proud of it! What we might not be so proud of though, are those annoying and nagging little things that spoil that warm fuzzy feeling. Vintage Newsletter - March 2012
Spring is here and that means it’s time to tune up our Vintage Volvo’s to take advantage of great driving weather. Inside this month’s newsletter you will find a video tech tip “how to” on tuning up your Volvo along with a tech tip video on how to do a valve adjustment. In February IPD staff members traveled up the highway to attend the Puget Sound Volvo Sports America Club's 6th Annual Swedish Car Cruise In at the XXX Root Beer Drive In Issaquah Washington. We came, we talked Volvo, and slung back a couple of root beers. I hope you find the cars and the people who drive them as interesting as we did! With spring in the air, we multiplied our customer feature by three. We have Pete Burrows from Alpha tech that has combined his love for Volvos and woodworking making some special pieces that could add a special touch to your Vintage car. We also meet Skyler and Chris two 122 owners in different life stages, but Volvo love knows no age.
The Transition Newsletter - March 2012

Performance may be your passion but proper maintenance should be your foundation. Your Volvo is only as strong as its weakest link. Maintaining and servicing your Volvo is actually pretty easy with the right tools and some guidance. At IPD we have the parts you’ll need to keep you on the straight and narrow path to a healthy, reliable Volvo. The Transition - January 2012
Happy New Year to all our wonderful Customers! This year we plan on being very busy! We’ve been gearing up to bring you more relevant information regarding your Volvo. You’ll notice we’ve split our newsletters into 4 different categories. We now have a Vintage, Rear Wheel Drive, FWD/AWD 1993-2000, and FWD/AWD 2001- newsletter. We want to provide more specific information and products that cater to your specific Volvo model. This particular newsletter is now called “The Transition” . Back in 1993 the market transitioned from RWD Volvo cars to mainly FWD with the exception of the 960, S90, and V90 models. The Transition was a fitting name given the history and radical change Volvo instituted into the automotive market. In this edition of The Transition we take a different approach in our Customer Feature. We show off a 1999 V70XC daily driver. This car isn’t that special, or is it? We wanted to showcase a family that utilizes all the amenities Volvo has to offer. The Roloff family explains how they use their Volvo when venturing out into the outdoors camping, hauling the family around, and being a reliable commuter. We think that justifies as a “special” Volvo. We also cover ipd’s 2010 XC60 R Design Project Vehicle. We showcased the XC60 at the 2011 SEMA show in Las Vegas. We worked with some “unconventional” partners in this project. Scott Hart (ipd’s Volvo Division Manager) explains the concept and why those unconventional partners stepped up to make the build possible. We put together a promotional video that goes over all the specifics of our project XC60R. Another great segment of this newsletter showcases all the 2011 ipd Photo Contest entrees. We also announce all the category winners. Make sure and watch all the slideshows to get a glimpse of all the wonderful Volvo cars submitted for the contest. Video’s and more video’s! ipd has committed to providing you with more informational video’s. This year we will be creating video’s that range from how to’s, product over views, and detailed/technical guides in video format. In The Transition you’ll find new and exciting product and promotional video’s regarding a few maintenance items that will help get you through the upcoming winter months. Last but not least ipd is offering their delicious ipd engraved chocolate bar promotion. If you spend $50.00 or more you can chose a milky smooth or dark chocolate bar to be shipped out with your order. Thank you for tuning into The Transition. We look forward to the upcoming months where we will feature new products, tech tips, and how to videos all catered to your specific Volvo model. We appreciate all your support. We hope you and your Volvo are enjoying whichever road you might be traveling down!

Vintage Newsletter - January 2012
Resolving to give your vintage Volvo a little more attention this year? With the welcoming of the New Year also comes our vision of what is possible. Fresh starts, healthier habits and for some of us, a new commitment to make our Vintage Volvos all that we want them to be. While not all of us are going to be able to wrap up our idea of the perfect Vintage Volvo by the close of 2012, there are little upgrades that make a big difference whether this is your daily driver, a major project or a car you visit on cold winter nights because you have made your garage a cozier place to cuddle up than inside the house. This month our customer feature on Ken Parkhurst’s P1800 is to renew your inspiration for what is possible. He has a long list of both mechanical and body modifications that combined make this one sweet P1800 that I certainly wouldn’t mind ringing in the New Year with! Here at iPd, we have some resolutions of our own. New tech tips, videos, products, more articles and customer features that will keep all of us with a vintage Volvo (or two, or three, or…) on the road to restoration, rejuvenation, or just on the road in general! Look inside for information on braided stainless brake lines, shocks and a request for feedback on how we can make 2012 a great year for you and your car.
The Pushrod Newsletter - November 2011
Just because your vintage Volvo doesn’t join you at the holiday table or open gifts, there is no reason to leave it out it the cold, even if it did spend a little time on the naughty list this year. Be it naughty or nice, there is always a reason to give it a little something this time of year. With tune up components from iPd, your car will be ready to go even without the reindeer’s help!

An ongoing joke around the IPD office is that brakes aren’t good for anything but slowing you down! Joking aside, brakes are a critical safety system that is commonly overlooked as part of a maintenance program. Too often we wait until there is a problem before we even think about replacing or upgrading things like pads and rotors. In this newsletter we’re featuring top quality replacement parts and upgrades to restore and improve the braking capabilities in your Volvo. In this newsletter you’ll also find info and details on this year’s IPD Photo Contest, a bio on our newest Customer Service Rep, Brandon Weaver & other assorted fun bits for your Volvo.
Car Care - Rear Wheel Drive
October is National Car Care Month (we didn’t make that up, honest)! This year, give your Volvo a treat and shine it up and protect it. Keeping your car clean, fresh & protected is about more than just vanity -- it truly helps preserve your favorite Swedish Car and extends its life. We all know “old” Volvos last a long time, but as they get even further on in years the elements can really take a toll on your car. Wet pine needles stuck under trim pieces, not oft waxed paint jobs constantly pounded by the elements, etc. all work together to relentlessly try to claim your Volvo’s beauty and structural integrity. Besides looking good, and well cared for and protected car will not suffer near the issues of other cars of the same vintage that are not. This newsletter features the best products to revitalize and guard your Volvo against the forces out to destroy it! These are all the same products we use on our own cars and have tested thoroughly in our wet Northwest weather. From cleaners and conditioners to floor mats and skid plates, we have a myriad of products any Volvo will cherish.

Braking News...in depth braking tips and products
Volvo has always outfitted their cars with excellent brake systems and was one of the first car manufacturers to offer the superior performance of disc brakes at all 4 corners beginning on the 1967 Volvo 144, 15 years before it became popular on most cars. Volvo also pioneered the application of dual circuit brake hydraulics, which provides a redundant back up system. If the brakes at any single wheel failed, the other 3 would still work correctly. Volvo did this in the 1960's, many cars didn't offer this until the late 70's. This ipd newsletter is crammed full of our most popular and helpful tech tips and articles to help you keep your brakes performing safely with maximum stopping power.

When most of us think of tuning up our cars we think about the basics. Plugs, cap, rotor and maybe wires and filters. Done, right? Well, that depends on your definition of done. There are many parts in our Volvos that need to be serviced. Some come up frequently like oil changes and some span a much larger mileage interval like differential fluid changes and timing belt jobs. In the larger scheme of things they are all important and all need to be done in the manner recommended by Volvo. While Volvos are rugged and tough, they will wear out eventually but proper servicing and maintenance of ALL the parts on the car will do wonders for the long term health of your Volvo. In this newsletter we’ll be dipping a bit further into the maintenance bin for tuning up your car for the long haul and featuring some products that are often overlooked, but that are integral to proper functioning of the fuel delivery, ignition system, and drivetrain of your brick.

This issue we are focusing on some of the items which often get overlooked on your Volvo including ignition system components and lighting and lenses. Since the start of the 850 model, Volvo has utilized very high output ignition systems to help combat the increased cylinder pressures found in the turbo model engines. This is great news for you and me, however the ignition system components really take a beating and need to be replaced more often than on most of the older Volvo models. In this issue we talk about some Spark Plug Folklore, and shed some light on choosing the right plugs for your engine. With the price of fuel continuing to rise, making sure that your ignition system is functioning at maximum capacity becomes ever more important for ultimate efficiency.
