As it turned out, I never was between jobs so the project did not get as far as I intended. I did strip off all of the several coats of peeling paint to see the condition of the body. I found almost no rust but a number of small dents and ripples in the sheet metal some of which were filled. It is in primer now. Some areas could be redone but the body is solid. The car has been garaged since I've owned it. Mechanically, the car is sound. It is registered and driven weekly. Most everything works. Included with the car are Volvo shop manuals and boxes of parts, most of which are not needed to restore the car and could be sold. I bought this little rocket in 1978 from the original owner, Gilbert Werner, to keep as a body parts source in case my Mom's pristine 1800 got bumped. Well, it has been reposing in my warehouse, dry and happy, for umpteen years. I don't think that I'll ever use it, so it's someone else's baby soon. It's pretty solid, with only a half-dozen spots that need repair, but the rails are fine, I'm sure it has some bondo in it, but I think it's never had a serious hit. $3,450. I have a B18 engine for it, and most of the original carb, intake set-up. I probably have an original gearbox, too but I'll have to dig. I have also a 1972+- 1800E for parts. It's pretty complete, suffered badly from a rollover, drove to my backyard, and now rests there nicely. I can include it with the race car, or sell it separately. I was going to put the body back together, drop in a drivetrain from any F/R car (Probably a Mustang 302 or a Honda S2000) and then redo the interior. There is no glass, motor, trans, trim, fuel tank, etc. Its JUST a rolling body. It needs two spots in the front rail near the K member welded up, and has rust in the drvr door sill / floor pan. Otherwise its in nice condition - relatively speaking. There IS a Illinois state title. However it is signed in both the Buyer & Seller field, dated 2004. You can try to re-title it in NY ( www.nydmv.state.ny.us/forms/mv51.pdf ) or try to contact the last title owner from illinois, or just use it as a clean body
