2013 Garage Sale Celebrating 50 Years of ipd

Monday, March 25, 2013 - ipd staff

June 19, 2013

In celebration of 50 years of business, we had a few additional features to our annual garage sale event held May 18-19, 2013. We had a huge turnout and hopefully some great memories were created. This video is a recap of the events of that day.

Chris Delano explains in more detail about what will be happening regarding our sales event for Garage Sale.

Help ipd commemorate 50 years of business by being part of Volvo history! To celebrate, we've added some new features to this years event. Some of the new features include a car show and vendor display area and a 50 year Volvo display from 1963-2013 featuring 50 iconic Volvo cars. A new Show-n-Shine area will be added where enthusiasts can show off their Volvo and a swap meet area to obtain those hard to find parts. We're also adding a Sunday cruise to the Oregon coast and a tech talk session at a local dyno. Check out the specifics for each event below. If you have specific questions, email Chris directly at chris@ipdusa.com.

50 Years of Volvo Display

ipd is on a mission to gather Volvos from 1963-2013 to put on display to celebrate 50 years of ipd one for, and from each year ipd has been in business. We've put together a spreadsheet below of cars that are already comitted to be in the 50 year lineup. These cars are not part of the car show portion of our event in the main parking lot, but will still be on full display!  As part of our 50th anniversary, we are attempting to gather 50 Volvos -- one for, and from each year ipd has been in business. That means we're seeking 50 nice examples for the display - one each from 1963-2013. Our goal is to gather a comprehensive, varied collection of models representing the largest breadth of Volvos possible. They don't have to be perfect show cars (we won't turn those away though!) but ideally we'd like to have nice clean original examples when possible. If you have a Volvo in this range that you think fits the bill please contact Cameron Daline at cameron@ipdusa.com with information and pictures of your car.

We're especially seeking some of the more rare, limited production models and will give these priority in our quest for a comprehensive collection. That mean is you have one of the following models we'd really like to include your car!

  • PV Duett
  • Any 1963 model
  • Amazon 123 GT
  • 262C
  • S90/V90

Please note that once we have the spots filled we will update the chart below with the car and owner's initials. Please do not submit your car for consideration if you cannot be in attendance the day of the Garage Sale -- Saturday May 18th 2013.

Charity - Parkinsons Resources of Oregon

Some of you may know that Richard Gordon, founder of ipd, was recently diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease. Because this hits close to home for us at ipd, we'd like to show our support and appreciation to him by bringing more awareness to the Volvo community and support a local Parkinsons foundation. Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon (PRO) has partnered with ipd for this event. PRO helps patients and caregivers manage this complex disease with helpful programs and services. They are dedicated to meeting the support needs of the Parkinson’s community of Oregon and Southern Washington. With your support, we're excited to raise money to help this worthy organization provide better resources for those individuals living each day with PD. For more information about PRO you can visit them here www.parkinsonsresources.org.

Sunday May 19th Events

Tech Talk - Tuning with Marco from MTE

How many of you had a chance to speak with Marco? How many of you have ever seen Marco? He does exist and he will be attending the ipd Garage Sale. Marco will be hosting a tech session at PSI dyno facility located in Hillsboro, Oregon from 8:00am - 12:00pm. We will not be tuning cars. This is a free tech talk session where Marco will have a car on the dyno explaining and demonstrating his tuning methods.

ipd has partnered with MTE since the early 90's to provide the best tuning solution for modern Volvos. Marco is a world class tuner and has worked with manufacturers like Volvo, Saab, Ford and Porsche developing electronic systems and primarily engine management. Now is your chance to learn from the worlds best Volvo tuning provider. If you're interested in attending this event, contact Chris Delano at chris@ipdusa.com so we can get an idea of how many people to anticipate.

PSI is located at 6103 NW Casper Pl Hillsboro, OR 97124

Cruise to the Oregon Coast

After the tech talk session with Marco, we'll be heading out to the beautiful Oregon Coast for a nice cruise. This will be a casual, hour long drive to Seaside. This is a great chance to visit the coast and chat with other Volvo enthusiasts and other ipd staff members.

ipd isn't responsible for any incidents or accidents that may occur when attending either of these events.

Car Show

ipd is looking to obtain 20-30 Volvos that stand out from the crowd, a hot rod restoration or well kept original. We hope to have the best Volvo cars available for you to see in person here at our location!  If you have a Volvo that is "show quality" and would like it to be on display, please contact Cameron at cameron@ipdusa.com.  Cameron is evaluating each car submitted for the event. You must have your Volvo submitted by May 3rd 2013.  There will be a limited amount of spots in the Car Show area.  If the area is full, we do have additional parking in our Show'n Shine arena.  Cars will still be judged in both locations.  The Car Show area will only host cars that have already been accepted by ipd staff.  The Show'n Shine area is open to anyone who attends the show provided there are spots open.

Please make sure your car is washed and detailed before you arrive.  There will not be any water or detailing products available the day of the event.

Show'n Shine

This year ipd is opening the lot directly across from our facility for those who want to display their car and particpate in having their car judged. The main car show area is for invitation and accepted cars only. The Show'n Shine area was opened up to those who want to attend the event and have their car a part of the occasion. If your car wins an award during the event, you must be present. If you plan on displaying your car in the Show'n Shine area, please bring $5.00 that will be donated to this year's charity. Admittance to the Show'n Shine is on a first come first served basis. When the lot is full, people will be asked to park in the general parking area. For further questions regarding our Show'n Shine, contact Cameron at cameron@ipdusa.com

There is a total of 80 parking spots available for you to display your Volvo. We reccomend you arrive at 8:00am for your best chance to obtain a spot.

Please make sure your car is washed and detailed before you arrive.  There will not be any water or detailing products available the day of the event.

Swap Meet

The Swap Meet will be held in the NE corner of the parking lot directly across the street from ipd. We have a limited amount of spots for the Swap Meet. This year each spot will be a 12x16 (2 car parking spaces). If you would like to reserve a spot, please call 800-444-6473 and speak to a customer service representative. Each spot will be $30.00. Thursday, March 07, 2013 - PAMELA JS DUNN

I use to have a 1984 Volvo 760 GLE with the V-6 engine that I would have been happy to loan for your display. Unfortunately although the engine ran fine at 350K miles, the other parts were quarter and dollaring me to death and leaving me sitting at inconvenient times and places. I was watching the "Wheeler-Dealers" program about two Englishmen that refurbish older classic autos one night when they were doing a Delorean and I was surprised to discover that the DeLorean used the SAME V-6 that my 760 had used. That engine did have a lot of power and was quite responsive too.I was really sorry when I had to let that Volvo go. Pamela Dunn
