Volvo V70/XC70 2001-2007 » Air Filters (K&N)
This filter has an international reputation for effective service under the most grueling conditions. Patented design utilizes surgical cotton in multi-layers, oiled and sandwiched between wire mesh. K&N filters not only clean the air, but also straighten the airflow. Your engine is provided with a less turbulent air stream than other popular filtering mediums (like paper and foam.) Under normal conditions cleaning and re-oiling is not required until 50,000 miles (without loss of efficiency!). Please check fitment listed below to ensure products will fit your specific vehicle. Some products may include or exclude some model years or engine and transmission combinations.

E-2019 Reviewed by Mikey from Las Vegas, NV
Just dropped an #E-2019 in on my '04 S60R w/ 50K miles.
Pros, filter arrived quickly and came pre-oiled. Simple install, 4 screws to air box & 2 clamps on filter; took maybe 5 minutes in the parking lot. Car sounds a little bit more aggressive and you can hear the CBV a little more.
As for cons, I did not notice any difference in performance but, in theory, since it is louder I'm sure it is probably flowing better. I'm assuming it may let in more dirt as well as oil spray if I over oil the filter. Small dirt particles will probably just get vaporized but I'm thinking the oil could throw off the mass air flow sensor readings if too much gets coated on there.
Every time I clean & re-oil the filter I'll probably go in a few days later and clean the MAF which takes like 2 seconds. IPD also sells the MAF cleaner. Be gentle with the sensor and use MAF cleaner only! Anything else (like carb cleaner) may destroy your sensor.
Just another note, yesterday I ran down to the corner real quick to grab a tool and had left the air box lid off. The intake was WAY louder. With the lid off there is probably less restriction but all that hot engine compartment air is probably counter-productive. Sounded pretty wicked though =)~

Always use K&N. better gas milage, save money on filters, and better performance. Not many upgrades do all at once.

Have used K&N filters in previous Volvos and this was a painless and enjoyable upgrade to the stock system. Provides a little throatier sound on hard acceleration.
