Scan Gauge II This is one feature-packed tool that functions as a fully operational scanner to read and reset standard OBD II diagnostic trouble codes for the engine management systems (DTC's), comprehensive gauge functions (with no hard wiring) and an enhanced trip computer. All by simply plugging it into the OBDII port in your 1996 or newer Volvo. (and just about any other 1996 or newer vehicle) The interface is very intuitive and we had it working in minutes on our test car without reading the instructions! Unit is approximately 5" X 3" x 2" with an 8' long cord.
Please note that only standard OBD II codes for the engine management system are supported. Proprietary Vehicle manufacturer codes / systems such as for the ABS, Climate Control, Transmission, SRS, Suspension, etc are not supported. Tools to access the manufacturer specific codes start at $3000+.
The ScanGaugeII provides real time MPG just like the factory options. More importantly, it also shows averages. It shows fuel use and economy for each trip you make, for all the trips in days driving, for all of the previous day's trips and over the entire tank of fuel. Each time you start driving after the engine has been off for at least three minutes, the "CURRENT" trip reset to 0 MPG and starts increasing as you start driving. You will see the MPG value go up and down as you drive.

Digital Gauges
Display 4 gauges at a time from the 12 built-in digital gauges. The information is presented in Real-time!
ScanGaugeII allows you to troubleshoot your own car, read error codes, and the conditions present when the error occurred. You can also turn off the "Check Engine" light and avoid those costly trips to the mechanic.

This is hands down the best tool I have purchased. It does everything when it comes to dtc scanning plus the gauge feature is amazing. Its easy to install and setup. Well worth the money.

The SGII is well worth it - small, easy to use and install, tons of great features, and a
great price considering all you get with it. Mounted underneath my rear view mirror
also. Not distracting like many other OBD2 tools, and very readable and compact.
Must-have for anybody with a tuned car - it's the most helpful tool in figuring out where
you're loosing HP just by monitoring the sensor's information.

Plain and simple one of the best tools you can have for your Volvo.
I have one mounted on my rearview mirror and now am surprised how I drive day to day with out it.
If you own a Volvo and are a DIY Mech, this tool should be mounted someplace in your car.
Not only are you able to scan CEL but whole lot of other things that no other scangauge is capable of.

I am a GM Master tech that just happens to own a 99 S70 T-5. I bought the Scan Gauge II to use as a generic code reader for cars that weren't GM and to check status for State Inspections. I've only had the tool for 2 days and i absolutely love it. The tool is ridiculously fast. I can check DTC'S and I/M status 10X faster than the GM TECH2. i have yet to use all the trip functions but I'm going to be all over that tomorrow. Example: My Tech2 was being used and I had a waiter running a bit bad with an engine light. i was able to check the DTC (EGR problem) and use the "Gauge" function to have a quick look at the MAP sensor. Was able to tell the EGR was hanging open a bit, cleaned it out, cleared the code, and that car was done and GONE before i could even turn the Tech2 on. Yes it does lack a lot of features as compared to a scanner, but for the price and the features it does have I'd have payed 3X as much for it. I give the Scan GaugeII 15 Thumbs UP!!!!!

First of all, very simple interface. Picked this up to help improve Fuel Economy. The instant feedback is invaluable. Immediately saw where I could improve my driving technique. EPA estimates 21/28 MPG. After just a few days practice, I have achieved 33 MPG city!! I'm proud of that accomplishment. The Scan Gauge will make anyone a better driver and could pay for itself quickly. Highly recommend.

Bought one (not from ipd+) to try on my S80 2.5D yr2000, doesn't work with this model.
EDIT- You have to select the correct communication protocol in the scangauge for this model, user guide explains how.
