Volvo S90/V90 » Ignition Electrical Switch
Do your heater motor, wipers, or radio seem to have a mind of their own when it comes to consistent reliability? The most common problem is the electrical switch behind the ignition key. The contacts inside wear away and the accessories can come and go intermittently. You can test your switch when it fails by turning the key counter-clockwise (not so far as to turn off the ignition) and if the above-mentioned accessories begin working the switch needs to be replaced. Please check fitment listed below to ensure products will fit your specific vehicle. Some products may include or exclude some model years or engine and transmission combinations.

The ignition switch did resolve erratic turn signal problems, insure that the torx #15 screwdriver is used to insert into the steering column adjustment lever port hole to remove the lever, this was not in the instructions and the torx screwdriver should be in the tire changing set of tools. The ignition switch did not resolve my air condition/fuse problem.

My switch got very loose and found this switch replacement from IPD great. It is easy to install the switch with proper instructions like from Haynes. The Haynes doesn't show (no pictures) but tells you how to replace the switch. You don't need to remove the "immobilizer" which is actually the key light. The actual ignition switch is on the other side of the key mechanism. Make sure you got a good set of torx wrenches because of the tight space around the ignition switch.
