I bought these calipers a while back and actually use them to measure hardware that we get machined at work. They are accurate enough to measure tight tolerances, which is rare for an affordable tool. The easy conversion from standard to metric is handy because most machine shops are stuck in the stone age and shun metric.
IPD is correct in saying that the calipers are good for valve adjustments. Unlike with lots of other calipers, measuring to hundredths of a millimeter is possible, and you can easily convert to inches so that common feeler gauges can be used at the same time.
I'm planning for buying another set for my boss, because he likes them so much.
