Silicone Boost tubing Couplers

Volvo models come from the factory with rubber couplers and can fail after as little as 50,000 miles. Rubber couplers fail from age, heat, and oil soaking from natural oil migration that occurs in turbo charged vehicles. Symptoms of torn or failing couplers include lean running at low throttle and rich running at higher throttle, additionally fuel mileage can suffer greatly. The number one complaint associated with torn or failed couplers is low or erratic boost and subsequent lower power from the vehicle.

Replace your worn out rubber couplers with Ipd's new silicone boost tubing couplers
for both long life and high performance!

AFTER INSTALLING I SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED POWER!
The 30 minutes install is quite a bit exaggerated. The 3 of the 4 existing brackets were no problem but the factory installed lower bracket for the rear hose was in a very awkward position just to get the 7mm socket positioned and forget a screw driver. I replaced all with brackets to take an 8mm socket/gearwrench. Now to the fitting of the new hose: 3 of 4 no problem at all (well within 30 minutes), but the front top hose was a bear and no lubricating can make a small hose opening larger. I finally figured to just try a flat head screwdriver to wedge the opening around the turbo hose. So forget the soap, oil, etc theory and grab a pair of gripping gloves and grab a screw driver and just don't stab your thighs as you use them as a vise. Hopefully heat from the engine will make it easier as the turbo hose must be removed on a somewhat regular basis as you work on and/or upgrade certain engine components.

The silicone hose that connects to the plastic air charge tube to the intercooler is extremely difficult to get on the end of the plastic tube. The side to the intercooler worked fine, however; the other side was a real PIA! IPD should have designed a wider throat opening similiar to the other end of this silicone hose. It took me almost 15 minutes trying to work the hose on, even with lubricating the inside of the new hose with dishwasher soap. I ended up working the new hose over a can of brake cleaner that had funnel shaped top to widen the opening, and then microwaved the hose for about two minutes to soften the silicone. It finally went on after that. The other connections are really quite simple. Make sure you remember the original position of the screw for the hose clamp on the bottom of silicone coupler that attaches to the turbo, access with even a 1/4" rachet is tight. My OEM coupler tube did have a 1 " narrow slash in it due to the hose clamp and was not visible when on the vehicle. The turbo seems a bit more responsive with the new hoses, even with 152,000 miles on the XC. IPD does have Fast Shipping !!!

To put the new hoses I personally recommend to moisture with a little bit of engine oil inside the new hoses because they are supposed to fit tight, that way won't leak any boost.

I just received these hoses a couple of days ago and I can say I was impressed. My
old hoses were completely busted and worn out. My turbo now spools quicker and has
given my 01 XC70 some extra power that was lost with old leaky hoses. The only
reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because the lower coupler hose was a bear to get
on the air charge pipe; I had to shave a little of the hose inside to get it to fit.
Combined with the iPd CBV upgrade this has given new life to my car... and it looks
cool!
