Volvo S80 1999-2006 » QBM Strut Bar Conversion

On the Volvo "P2" chassis Volvo introduced a new upper engine mount configuration. The new design utilizes a very hefty cross brace that spans the engine compartment and connects the front strut towers. Although it looks just like a conventional strut brace, it is not. It is attached to the body by to ball joint flex assemblies that allow it to provide vertical support for the upper engine mount, but it provides no lateral support and therefore offers no resistance to torsional body flex traditionally addressed by a strut brace. The QBM strut bar conversion adapters replace the original flex joints with rigid mounts that turn the engine support into an effective strut brace.

Stiffness to the max. Very responsive handling. Easy way to convert your cross brace into a strut bar. A bit of vibration, but remember you are tightening the engine compartment in the car. Maximize it with IPD mounts.

You will only notice these in the corners or quick turns but they do help give you a more responsive steering feel. For the price its worth it.

Great, high quality product. This Strut bar conversion makes that upper engine mount actually functional. After replacing this, along with the new poly upper engine mount, I noticed less torsion of the engine and tighter steering. The S80 can sometimes feel like a boat, this conversion kit definately helped to alleviate that feeling. As far as extra vibration...hard to tell but I can't say I personally felt a difference on the road. My car starts to vibrate up around 90 mph anyway, so I can't really comment on that aspect.

I was skeptical of how effective this upgrade would be. I pulled the trigger and I couldn't be happier. My S60R feels much more responsive with more control all the way through the corners. For the money - this is an excellent upgrade!

These things are something that you will only notice when you corner. They make make the steering feel very precise, i.e. it goes where you point it with no changes unwanted direction changes caused by body flex. The improvement is subtle but well worth the money.
