I find this to be poorly edited and presented.

The paper for the pages is just above newspaper grade causing the B&W photos (no color photos) to be grainy and difficult to visualize. I also found the photos to be too small.

The text rarely references the figures or illustrations even though they have a sequence number.

There is limited use of ‘exploded views’ and most are found in the sections covering the engine repair.

Warning to US owners: This manual is written for those models released and used in the UK, NOT the US. Unless you own a 5-cylinder gas or a diesel engine, don’t expect any specific information to your vehicle’s drive train.

Likewise, when referencing the interior bodywork and fitting section, everything will be mirror image as the UK has right-hand-drive vehicles.

There is Code reference for the OBD II.

Recommendation: fully read the section on your anticipated repair prior to performing any of the work. That way you can evaluate if you really want to do-it-yourself or have a shop perform the task at hand. In either case you should be able to extract a basic understanding of what work is involved to perform the
repair.

I gave this manual a two star rating because it still is better than no manual in hand.

I was dissapointed a little. I found it lacking the large photographs and illustrations I am accustomed to seeing in the US Haynes manuals. That said, it appears to be the best over the counter manual available to date, on the S80.

a good manual, it will provide most all of the things a dyi person will encounter. it is not for the R. it even has the diesel versions i got mine from the uk haynes website earlier this year for almost twice the price as ipd will have them. so get it here, now. it will serve you well.
