Volvo 200 » Multimeter, Hands Free

This auto-ranging, digital multimeter is designed for household and automotiveelectrical testing. This handy, feature-packed tool with auto-ranging function eliminates the need to dial in the correct range when making electronic measurements. 10 MegOhm circuitry allows for safe use on today's sensitive automotive electronics. The meter features easy-to-read, color-coded LEDs that show a battery's state of charge; patented ergonomic design with wrist strap for hands-free testing; 36" long test leads, built-in stand and test lead holder; and rubber corner guards for drop protection.

Great for around the house outlets, fuses, wiring, troubleshooting automotive circuits & sensors, fuses, vehicle battery and charging systems, and much more. A staff of ASE Certified technicians supports this product, which is U/L listed at 1-800-544-4124.

• Large digital display • Single-setting resistance function for voltage (AC & DC) • Color-coded LED's display battery quick check GREEN = good YELLOW = weak RED = replace

***Bottom Line: 10MegaOhm only applies for "10 MegOhm input DC" selector switch on this device--NOT Battery Lead Test--BE CAREFUL!***

Not explained here is how it's "handsfree"; there's a crisscrossed elastic band on the slightly curved back which allows you to wear it like a bracelet; also has flip-stand to sit it upright at angle. You can leave one sensor clipped in and touch a battery to it w/1 hand, and hold the the other sensor w/another. Autoranging is bad for O2 sensors since voltage varies rapidly; unit switches between mV/V several x/sec, making it hard to get a read. No way to kill autoranging except to switch to battery test mode. Called mfr to see if battery test mode is 10MegaOhm, they said yes but to their credit, quickly called me back to say NO it is not. Analog would suit O2 testing much better. So be careful, as Bentley manual says sub-10 MegaOhm impedance (usually cheaper) sensors can damage LH control units.
