The choice for the truly discriminating driver, Bilstein HDs offer handling so superior, they're capable of damping wheel movement as small as 2mm. And that's smooth.
Most stock shocks just don't have enough damping on compression and rebound. The result is mushy transitional performance, brake dive, choppy feel on expansion joint and in some cases, suspension crash through.
Explaining how Bilstein HDs improve ride with increased damping is difficult. How can the ride be smoother and feel plusher if the shock is stiffer? A big part of improvement comes from Bilstein's patented digressive valving system that helps soak up initial shock loads before full damping is achieved. This takes off the edge of most impacts and completely changes the feel of the car. An unusually high number of customers have called back with praise of Bilsteins. One customer went so far as to say, "You guys are too subtle in your ads for these things, you've got to let people know that this is the fix!"

I originally had the Koni adjustable cut-a-struts paired with my Eibach springs (~1.5"
drop after settled fyi) but harsh roads in Atlanta paired with it being my daily driver and
a recommendation from a friend I switched over to the Bilsteins. Huge difference - the
girlfriend even noticed a smoother, quieter more comfortable ride. Feels much better
through the turns - Konis felt too harsh, didn't fit in well with the rest of the
suspension.
If you're debating between these and the Konis just save up the cash and get the
Bilsteins - I wish I had to start.

I don't even know where to start.
Bottom line is that these are the best struts I have ever had on ANY car. They provide a firm, responsive ride, but one that smooths out road imperfections so they are comfortable and not jarring.
They are stiff, but not in an uncomfortable way. I strongly recommend them!

Struts are great, just got them installed at momentum volvo. The ride is very comfy
and secure. I highly recommend these if you have shock / struts that are on the way
out. my old struts had 100,000 miles and although my new ones havn't quite settled in
yet, they really feel great on turns, body roll is still present but extremely minimal on
sharp turns.

I first installed Koni's on my 2001 S60 since Bilstein's were not available at the time. The Koni's were a good improvement but from my experience with Bilstein's on my two other Volvo's and a Saab I immediately replaced the Koni's with Bilstein's when IPD offered them. I am very pleased with the handling of my S60 with the combination of IPD sway bars, Bilstein's and the racing end links. They do have a harsher ride than OE equipment, but the trade off is worth it.
