Heavy Duty Turbo Control Valve ipd's new precision turbo control valve provides rock solid boost control and high accuracy restoring power from failing solenoids that are slow and sluggish. Slow spool time and fading boost pressure is common with weak factory solenoids and can rob you of power you didn't know you even lost. Designed to handle high heat, high pressure, and tough environments, ipd's new turbo control valve was built with longevity in mind. With crisp actuation and precise control you'll regain lost power from poorly operating stock units. Direct fit, typically installs in under 10 minutes with no modifications required. Fits all turbo models 1998-2008. Please check fitment listed below to ensure products will fit your specific vehicle. Some products may include or exclude some model years or engine and transmission combinations.
We offer some products with multiple brand options. Products ending with an "E" suffix indicate Economy (non-OE) brands.

I just installed the HD TCV today. Let me tell you - it is such an improvement over the stock control valve. No more lag or "ping-ponging" when you're on and off the throttle. Definitely more punchy with a nice, steady rise in boost. My 2004 S60R (6M) feels like a new machine.

I can't tell you how much of a huge improvement this product makes. Very easy to install, and power delivery went from "Do I really have a turbo in this?" to "This car hauls!". Definitely replace the hoses when you do this, the wastegate and the intake hoses fell apart when I pulled them off.

Often I ask my wife if she notices any difference after I make a repair. Usually the answer is no . . . This time she asked me what did I do. It took me a while to make up my mind about this part, but for 90 bucks its worth it even if you're unsure. In my case our XC is a lot smoother and more responsive. Very happy with the improvemement and install was pretty simple. Ipd - consider including a few pieces of coloured heat shrink (the electrical stuff) for those of us who replace the hose, which I recommend doing. The old stuff will be pretty stiff. Thanks -

my old valve was quite obviously failing, so i decided to go with the heavy duty. While I am very happy with the new TCV, I think what really made the difference was the new silicone hoses (the old ones literally fell apart in my hands when i took them out). I HIGHLY recommend changing your hoses while you're in there - you won't regret it.

I have a 1999 V70 XC with 125K miles. My OEM TCV decided to die on me. After calling Volvo the 3 dollar difference made it an easy decision to upgrade my TCV with ipd's. The install was easy especially since I did a short ram intake as well. Prior to purchase I had read the instructions, reading the part where you have to teach the computer the new part I thought was going to be doable without a turbo boost gauge. I thought wrong. The two ways to reteach the computer is to run the car at 50% for a short time, repeat 4x and shut the car down for 12 min and repeat. The other way it to stay below 50% boost and not go above, and after 25-30 cold starts the computer will eventually learn.
While I still think this is a good part and worth the upgrade if you decide to get this part you NEED a boost gauge to retrain your computer!
I am still working on retraining my computer and I'm patient and I have faith that once my car decides it's OK with the newest addition it will be great. I hope this doesn't discourage people but better informs them.

2005 Volvo S60R. This TCV is a great part to add to any modified turbo Volvo. Boost is stronger and a lot smother. Very Happy!

Unit didn't come fully assembled & instructions didn't mention to mount the bracket first. The bracket has slotted holes to adjust the gap between the TCV body and the bracket such that you can actually mount the bracket and totally eliminate the gap. That won't do if you actually want to hang the TCV on the airbox bracket. The fasteners shown that mount the bracket in the instructions aren't the ones that come with the kit; also the screws are about a millimeter short so they don't fully engage the locking feature in the supplied nut.
If anyone tries to install the TCV without paying attention they could swap ports 1 and 3 (blue and red) because the stamped numbers on the body aren't 100% clear which port they belong to. (the numbers are stamped between the two brass fittings, and although they're close to the correct port, if you're in a hurry you can install the hoses the wrong way) In all fairness, there's not that much room to put the stamping on the side face along with the ports, but they could fit nicely (and unambiguously) on the outboard perpendicular face as they would not be covered by the mounting bracket and they would be in plain view when installing the hoses. But that's a minor nit.
But as others have mentioned, the driveability got better than the stock TCV after the initial drive/calibration procedure was completed. There's more low-end punch and better performance from a standstill.

I upgraded to this HD TCV about half a year ago. Huge upgrade! I know it's been said many times over. But now ... I finally changed the turbo/vac lines. Honestly, it is like my turbo got new life. Stronger pull and better response. I checked my old OEM lines, but couldn't find any cracks. I guess they were just old, dry or somehow collapsed under higher negative pressure, but definitely compromised volumetric air flow. I got a new respect for Stage Zero.

This was an easy install on my 02 V70XC. After driving around, I noticed that acceleration was smoother and it felt like the car was developing power earlier. I used to have hesitant acceleration when merging onto highways, not anymore. Punch it and she goes. Thanks, ipd!

Good, solid product! This valve looks and feels like a high quality product, and no doubt it is. My system is stock (2000 V70XC), so I wasn't expecting this to do anything too fancy. Although I think any performance gains when starting from a stop are all in my mind, I know for sure that the turbo boost comes in a few hundred RPMs sooner. Almost always took until about 2800 too get the turbo to kick in, now I can punch it and get good boost at about 2600 which is really nice for short highway entrances! I know this would do real wonders on a tuned system. Good stuff iPd, thanks!
