This product made a huge difference on the way I experience driving my 2004 V70. Upon installation and on my first drive test, I noticed the vibration increased very considerably, although shifting and initial engine response was extremely improved. I decided to experiment with some physics. I loosened the bolts of the Mount assembly again, put transmission in Drive, engaged the parking brakes, made sure I blocked the rear wheels for safety and then tightened the bolts again, while transmission in Drive What a difference! Vibrations are gone and retained the benefits described above.

I installed this tonight on my '05 S60R. It was very simple (less than 30 mins) and made a massive improvement in shift quality. If there is additional vibration, I cannot tell. Two tips:
- I have two full sets of Craftsman sockets (deep and shallow) neither has an 18 mm, I used an 18 box wrench to remove, but needed a socket for torquing - The two smaller bolts have thread lock on them, but you should put new on to reinstall
Bottom line-another quality IPD product that will markedly improve shifting

Excellent product!
My original upper engine mount in my 1999 v70 Automatic had failed resulting in clunky shifts and poor throttle response.
Now that I have replaced with your polyurethane version, the shifts are smooth as can be!
I was skeptical at first to purchase because of the reviews about vibration however, even at IDLE there is LESS vibration than before, despite what others had said. I cannot even feel the shift from park to reverse and then to drive...amazing!
EXCELLENT PRODUCT!!!
EASY 15 MINUTE INSTALL!
Time and time again IPD has the right part at the right price! good on ya guys!

To all the people hating because this mount causes extra vibration..
DUH of course its going to, its firmer than stock and the Light Blue mounting and def. a nice upgrade for all you racers out there. makes the throttle respond much more predictably.

OK, I'm going to post this twice, since I really think this is a review of two parts: the Poly upper motor mount bushing and the strut bar bushings.
On my 95 850, no strut bar, the upper mount was bolted directly to the firewall. Back then, just changing the upper mount bushing was a HUUUGE improvement.
For all you R owners (and anyone else who has the same strut bar) the upper mount is attached to the BAR, not the firewall. So, common sense says while you have the strut bar off to change the upper mount bushing, you might as well add the strut bar bushings. It adds a whopping 3.5 minutes to the job (and a minute of that is spent opening the ziploc bag and taking pictures ;)).
Not only that, but my upper mount bushing was completely torn through top and bottom. Given how much the strut bar flexes, I cant imagine the stresses that the engine exerted on that mount and, subsequently, the strut bar, in order to shear something that was so flexible to begin with. My strut bar rotated several degrees, and i could "bottom" out the bolts just by twisting with my bare hands. In other words, the stock bar bushings were doing NOTHING.
PROs: Fast forward to the completed job. I could BARELY twist the strut bar by hand with the poly bushings. And forget about the upper mount- it just LOOKS cooler and is obviously a better design. I took her for a drive, and I couldnt BELIEVE the difference. The car turned MUCH flatter at speed, and in fact, I gained a little oversteer in tight, fast turns (or, perhaps I was just so used to understeer!).
Cons: Not really a con for me, but maybe for some. I have the 6mt, and with clutch depressed at a stoplight, RPMs below 1000, i can feel the motor through the steering wheel and in my seat. Not outrageous, but its there. above 1000 and she smooths right out (i also have the blue lower tranny mount but so that could be contributing as well). But in all honesty, I didnt buy the R for a waterbed-like ride, thats what my Lincoln is for. These parts give you what you want out of a sport coupe- the feeling that you're steering the car by dragging your hands on the road itself...
Summary: Again, if you have to buy one, buy the other! You wont be sorry!
Well done once again IPD!

Product installed very easily compared to OEM replacement. Performs well; very satisfying. Definitely stiffer than factory part, decreased wheel hop and increased power to the ground when the transmission kicks down. Thanks!

vibrates at idle due to upper and lower and strut bar all on poly bushings but it is cheaper than oem volvo rubber being replaced under warranty twice in 50k should break in in 10k miles much better than stock same install on my 850 with idle vibrations, wifes xc 90 is next.

Before I purchased the upper engine torque mount I spent time reading all of the customer reviews. I must say that all of the complaints about vibration this and that. Well I have not had one instance of any abnormal vibration. I feel the mount helps alot with the engine movement from my turbo beast. My car is a rocket from 60-80mph. The car feels so smooth now, it truly feels like a whole new car on a straight line. i.e the highway. This was the first product I have purchased from ipd and I will continue to review and read all of the customer reviews they help. So in the end I can give my business to ipd for all 3 of my Volvos. Impressed so far!!!

Installation is obviously easy so long as you have a round mount handy (check out the junkyard for a cheap find).
At first vibration was very bad and unbearable. But after about a month the bushing had worn in a bit and settled and vibration is great. Comparable to the amount added by switching the lower transmission mount. Transmission shifting has gotten even smoother, engine performance change not noticeable. But my old mount was busted so why not upgrade?
