Some people in the 98 to 2000 range may find that this dipstick doesn't go all the way
down into the dipstick tube by about an eighth or a quarter of an inch. Don't return it
and rush to the dealership because they will sell you the exact same dipstick for $36.
The problem is that Volvo gradually phased out a lot of dipsticks and dipstick tubes so
that they could one single type of tube and dipstick on all their cars. The dealership
would simply tell you that you have to buy the tube as well but getting at the tube
base to replace it looks like an ominous task even if it is held in by one screw. If this
dipstick settles into the tube eventually , you'll get a slightly higher reading that you'll
have to live with. If you still have your original dipstick, be careful. It's brittle and thin
at the plastic -metal joint. Bumping into it with a replacement hose may break it as I
did.
