I found it much easier to remove the shift knob than the instructions led you to believe. The button and spring installed easily and now the shifter feels like new. It always engages park now and doesn't "lock" the keys in the ignition any more.

man feels like brand new. old one was cracked and kept sticking. shifter came off real easy, not like expected. only thing is when put back on the light for gear selector went out. dont know if bulb burned out, or the shifter caused it??????have to check.

Quite simple to complete. Take your time in observing the fit of the old button. There are two "slide pins", one top and one bottom, that need to be aligned in order for the button to work properly. Don't force anything to hard.

Easy install, took about 15 minutes total (on a 2000 C70 Convertible) ... and much cheaper than the $150 I'd have been charged by the Volvo dealer!
Although the button is black, rather than the OEM metallic gray color, it's not noticeable at all since it's not in plain view from any seat in the car.

This is a great kit! Our gear shift broke. The dealer wants $125 for a new one.
Ordered in on Monday, received Thursday. Decided to take a chance on Friday to install/repair it, while having Saturday as a backup for a new part just in case.
The repair was simple! Took about 30 minutes without rushing. Just follow the directions and you'll be fine. Great way to save money with a simple repair.
