Volvo P1800 » Camshafts & Related Parts
If your car seems to be down on power, and a compression test and a bit of tuning ensure that everything is well within spec, it may be time for a new camshaft. Unevenly worn lobes can cause a rough idle and can diminish the motor's ability to create power at higher rpm's.
When choosing a cam, keep in mind that in most circumstances, performance and drive-ability often lie at opposite ends of the engine tuning specturm. In the world of camshafts, bigger is not always better as the specs of your motor should determine what cam would be the most appropriate. Give our knowledgeable staff a call as we have proven recommendations for almost all applications.
ipd cams are ONLY warranted when installed with new lifters. Please check fitment listed below to ensure products will fit your specific vehicle. Some products may include or exclude some model years or engine and transmission combinations.

Good camshaft, but a little disappointed with the performance gain. Generally better, per other Volvo experts, to go with the Volvo D grind cam. Be sure to talk with an experienced Volvo engine builder before making a purchase decision on a camshaft.
ipd customer service response: Volvo no longer sells the original 1971 "D" cam that was stock in the B20E engines (at least in the USA.) They have superseded it to the 1972-1973 "D" cam which does not produce performance gains like the earlier one.
