Help prevent oil leaks from your stamped steel valve cover.
The trick when installing the original valve cover is to tighten it "just enough" to seal. Overtightening the mounting screws will distort the valve cover, and then it won't seal properly. This kit spreads the clamping force over a larger area, allowing the gasket to better seal against the cylinder head.
