Volvo C70 2006-2008 » Heavy Duty Polyurethane Transmission Mount

Heavy Duty Polyurethane Longitudinal Transmission Torque Mount

Most front wheel drive and all wheel drive Volvos utilize a link style transmission mount installed between the transmission and the engine subframe. This mount is designed to limit the twisting torque of the power train under acceleration. The mount has two bushings in it and the larger of the two bushings is very soft and prone to premature failure, which allows the engine and transmission to over torque, stressing other mounts and noticeably reducing performance and shifting smoothness.

ipd has developed an effective economical solution that replaces the large high void area rubber bushing with a heavy duty full polyurethane bushing. The upgrade is available as a kit that allows you to replace the faulty bushing or as a complete assembled unit for those of you who prefer a direct bolt on part. Pressing out the original bushing is pretty easy and can be done with a medium size vice and hammer. A press is not required. Replacing the complete part takes about 30 minutes with common hand tools, add an addition 10 minutes if you are pressing the new bushing into your original hardware.

Instructions are included.

This product is comparable to the QBM140 product.

We highly recommend replacing the stock mount with our assembly as the smaller bushing on the stock mount is very soft and is a common point of failure.

An easy upgrade. (except for the original 18mm bolts being rusted tight...) Tightened up the shifting and introduced a little more vibration. A worthwhile sacrifice. A fresh breath for my T5m.

This should be a 'must have' item for anyone with a V or XC. I pulled my old mount out and the small end bushing was completely trashed. There was nothing connecting the inner to the outer.

Shifts are crisp and smooth instead of the hard thunk that used to happen, especially from first to second. This helped clear up a bunch of idle vibration I was getting at lights as well.

If you're not sure when the last time yours was replaced, or even if it ever had been (in case you're not the first owner) please don't hesitate to buy this mount. Installation is a breeze and at this price you can't go wrong.

On a side note, this should definitely be added to the regular transmission section, especially if it's going to be a permanent addition to the catalog.

The small bushing needs to be raplaced but didn't know it till I got it apart. Was disappointed with the large poly bushings. They seem to be too large for the bracket. The angled flanges extend past the sides of the bracket and the metal sleeve does not reach fully from one side to the other. Also found the diameter of the bushings made it difficult to press them in.Took longer than statedin the write up, and definitely need to get the smaller one replaced. Usually have great results with IPD, but this one was not as advertised.

ipd customer service response: There are several brands of this mount out there. they are all very similar but we cannot guarantee our product will fit every one of them. It does however fit the OEM mount.

We highly recomment replaceing the entire mount with 8K0140 which has a solid rubber smaller bushing.

I mounted this on my '95 855 wagon - it's a 2.5 10V non-turbo that has run about 240.000 km.
The difference is incredible.
I took out the original part, and that was clearly shot - apparently this little thing slips past even Volvo's own service shops - it was in 1500 km ago.
Put this new one in, took me about an hour because the old one was firmly stuck, but it was an easy install.

There is more vibration now, especially idling at a stop, but that kind of only underlines the increase in power that's running from the engine. Noticeable increase in power, smoother shifting, smoother (and quicker) accelleration.

This thing is HIGHLY recommended!

Installed on my '03 V70 with 47k miles. Noticeably better throttle response from a stop, at the cost of some additional vibration. To be expected relacing soft rubber with poly bushings. The whole mount is sturdier than the OEM part, just replace the whole thing... Will look into other replacement poly bushings though IPD in the future.

Installed on a '95 855Ti. I already had a new Scantech replacement lower mount assembly and found the larger of the two bushings was destroyed within a short period of time. I purchased 8K0139, and it took me less than iPd's claimed time; it was a breeze to install, and well worth the money. I also have the iPd upper torque rod poly bushing and have DIY poly reinforced my firewall mount (a'la QBM); an as such can attest to the overall increase in NVH. Personally, I don't mind it. I would like to see a poly replacement for the smaller of the two bushings in this mount though.

Wow, my 10/03 built 2004 V70 T5 manual had its stock mount clearly failed by 148K kms, this new mount completely restored the feel at the shifter, great product, worth every penny!

The added bonus is the ease of install, I didn't even have to jack up the car to get the OE mount off and the IPD mount on.

This assembly is amazing, my car used to do some clunky downshift thing when I let off the gas, and this totally went away after installing this new part. My old smaller rubber bushing was totally gone, broken and and moved in every which way. I highly recommend getting the full assembly for this because I take it that my bad bushing is not alone. Great specific instructions too, not that it was hard but I've never order a part with such detailed instructions down to the foot pounds of torque for the bolts.

Recently bought the lower transmission mount. The new mount stiffened up the feel of the car and makes for better shifts. No more clunky shifts that sound horrible if you have your window down. I heard that the rubber bushing goes around the 60,000 mile mark and you can end up grinding syncros. Good insurance to have for about $100.
