Volvo C70 1998-2005 » Upper Engine Stabilizer Mount
The original rubber engine stabilizer mount has proven to be a weak link that that can fail prematurely and allow the engine to rock and move during acceleration and braking, significantly affecting the handling and performance of the car. This mount is located near the top of the engine on the backside just to the right of center, connecting the engine to the firewall. The original mount requires a special Volvo press tool for removal and installation.
Our improved polyurethane material is stronger (we warranty it for life) and the 2 piece design allows for easy installation without special tools. The original mount is covered under the basic Volvo warranty, however we have heard from customers that have had the original rubber mount replaced several times. To inspect your mount, look for signs of the rubber separating where it is attached to the outer housing. The original rubber bushing can be removed and our HD replacement can be installed in about 30 minutes with common hand tools and included instructions.
Please note!
These polyurethane bushings are firmer than the stock rubber parts they replace and can transmit additional vibration in some cases. Especially if the motor mounts and or transmission mounts are worn. When you replace the worn out rubber mount, now much of the load is supported by the new stiffer bushing and this can often lead to unwanted vibration, especially at idle on models equipped with automatic transmissions. It’s important to make sure that your other mounts are in good condition to avoid unwanted vibration. Please check fitment listed below to ensure products will fit your specific vehicle. Some products may include or exclude some model years or engine and transmission combinations.

Installed on my 1995 850 GLT 5-speed. Had to replace the old mount because it had broken and fallen out! Engine feels like it has more power, a big difference from the old mount (and no mount at all!) Had a few problems getting the mount completely in, but once it got bolted on I had no problems. Love the color!!

Great part, and easy to install. Getting the old (OEM) one out is another story. Forget the idea you will hammer that thing out, you will have nothing but bruised knuckles. Quickest way is to go straight to the hacksaw. First, use a pair of side cutters to clip the center attach point, then take the hacksaw blade and cut in two places (not into the metal), near to top works best. Grab a big screwdriver, and hammer between the two cuts to relieve the interference fit. Did not see any great performance increase, but had lost of fun doing it.

After reading a few of the "vibration" complaints and the warning from iPd, I went ahead and decided to order the 2B1880 mount for my C70 vert (manual) because I didn't want to install the junkie rubber OE ones from Volvo. Installation was easy and WOW, what a difference! I can feel the extra power from the lack of engine movement... and I have yet to experience any additional vibration.

Just installed this today on my 5-speed NA 850. engine is very solid, barely any movement and much more torque! It really growls in the low revs, and response has improved. haven't noticed any vibration, maybe it's more noticeable with the auto trans. The original mount popped out with lots of hammering, sawing, and PB blaster.
Not too hot on the color, wish it were more discreet.

Easy to install, and worth every penny. Yes, there will be a slight increase in NVH. That is part of the comprimise; either swap out OE rubber mounts once a year and have an interior free from engine NVH, or replace those mounts one time with poly mounts and deal with a little NVH in the interior. I'll take the latter option.

2B1850-upper Engine Stabilizer Mount; On my 2000 Volvo V70, I was having a noise problem when going up a sweeping freeway on-ramp. There was an engine noise that sounded like a dry bearing. When I took my foot off the gas, the noise stopped. The local Volvo dealer thought it might be a loose brake backing plate; one independent shop thought it was a bad wheel bearing (even though I told them the noise stopped when I took my foot off the gas). The third shop didn't give an opinion. All three shops noted that I needed an upper engine mount. The dealer said a new mount would not solve the noise problem. Since everyone seemed to be guessing, I didn't fix the noise problem. However, I purchased the IPD engine mount, and easily installed it, and to my surprise, it cured the noise problem. It must be that the engine was pulling off center on the on-ramps, and something (crank maybe) was scraping the oil pan. The new IPD mount solved the problem Haven't heard the noise in 6-months. Fixed what could have been a major expense (in the shop's eyes) for $26.00 As many have noted, there is a vibration when coming to a stop, but that is bearable. No vibration at all on the road.
ipd customer service response: Generally the vibration occurs while idling at a stop.

This is the second application of the poly bushing I've used. Installed it previously on my 95 850 and now on my 05 S60. In both cases, the results were very noticeable when driving. The car just has a tighter, more confident feel about it that didn't exist before. The vibration is noticeable at idle, however. Shifting to neutral seems to help. Other than that, both applications have been a joy to have.
