A common problem found in hi mileage 5 cylinder engines used in 850 S70, V70, C70, S60, S80 and XC90 models is low oil pressure at idle that will cause the low oil pressure warning system to activate. Usually this is caused by failed o-rings in the oil pump pick up tube connection, which allows air to be drawn into the system. The air causes the oil pressure to drop to dangerous levels. If you are experiencing flickering low oil pressure warning lights or messages, this is the most likely cause. The kit includes all the seals and gaskets you’ll need to do the job. You will also need the chemical gasket kit for the oil pan surfaces as Volvo does not use a conventional gasket in this application. We also highly recommend that you purchase our turbo drain seal flex joint tool to access the upper turbo drain pipe fasteners (absolutely required on AWD models and the twin turbo S80).
