Shift Knobs, OD Switches, Relays, etc. If the shift knob on your 200 or 700 series Volvo is cracked, broken, or just plain missing, we’ve got the kits that make it easy to replace. Kits include the knob, the shift pattern indicator for M-46, and instructions. When your manual overdrive has stopped working, the switch in the shift knob could be the cause, or it could be the relay. Check out these inexpensive solutions as well as the fuse and wiring before you decide you need a new transmission! Another solution to a manual overdrive that doesn’t work could be the fourth gear contact switch that mounts to the transmission. It could be an easy solution to a major problem. my dog newton ate my 1982 orginal overdrive switch. im not a mechanical guy but it was really easy to install and works just like the old one. now i might have to relpace the whole shift knob because newton got hungry again.
