Most gasket failures are simply due to old age. The material becomes hard and brittle over time and loses the ability to seal or may crack from being handled during normal maintenance procedures. If you are unsure of how old the gaskets are on your engine, be sure to have replacements on hand before you tear into that next project. Head gasket sets include the head gasket and most gaskets and seals from the head/block surface up. Pan gasket sets include the gaskets and seals from the head/block surface down. Be aware that on turbo models, you'll need to order all turbo related seals and gaskets separately. Pan sets do not include turbo drain pipe seal or turbo gaskets.
