Strut Brace

Adding performance shocks, stiffer springs and wide low-profile tires puts additional stress on the front strut towers. Our strut brace connects both towers reducing movement and flex under high cornering loads.

Ipd offers two strut braces to fit your bugdet and performance needs.

Stage 2
Our all aluminum construction strut brace (Part #1870) provides the most cost effective
way to help shore up the strut towers in your Volvo providing better turn in and better
steering wheel feedback to the driver.

Stage 3
Our turnbuckle brace is also all steel construction and powder coated for durability
(Part #72.0004 blue & Part #72.0005 black). Featuring counter threaded spherical rod ends to pretension the
strut brace and remove chassis flex.  This brace allows you to pretension the strut towers and remove any initial
chassis flex that can contribute to washy or splashy steering and cornering.  For the maximum in chassis rigidity
without sacrificing ride quality this type of brace has proven most popular with enthusiast drivers.

Customer Product Reviews

I browsed many forums and found mixed reviews on the performance of adding a strut brace. Well I bit the bullet and bought the HD Strut Brace by IPD. After installing the brace I immediately felt the front end of my 98 S70 T5 (stock suspension) tighten up and the car wasn't leaning as much going into curves. It also took away a good portion of the body roll, making my car even more enjoyable to drive! The cost may be high for some, but I highly recommend this product!

P.S. The bolts I received with the brace don't match with the instructions. The instructions say 8mm allen (which didn't work), but its more like a 10mm allen. Make sure you have a few allen wrenches ready!

Fantastic - completely changed the ride and handling on my 95 850 wagon. Best money I have spent so far with IPD. Installation was a breeze with metric sockets, torque wrench and allen wrench. Took less than 30 minutes to install. A very high quality part with excellent appearance. Buy it you will be surprised at the improvement in your handling.

i underestimated the installation of this product. i have a 98 t5 and over time i guess the shock towers spread apart. i had to drive up on a ramp on side at a time to get the bolt holes to line up to where i could get both sides on.( it seemed like 3 to 4 inches difference from brace to between the towers). but, it does fit.
the car feels more solid now. around short tight turns the car definitely stays more level, but on long sweeping curves you can tell that you are still at the mercy of the shocks and springs that you have on. i would definitely get sport springs to go along with this upgrade. but still worth it. I would like to try the rear sway bars too.
