Shocks & Struts (Bilstein)

Shocks & Struts (Bilstein)

Bilstein Heavy Duty

The choice for the truly discriminating driver, Bilstein HDs offer handling so superior, they're capable of damping wheel movement as small as 2mm. And that's smooth.

Most stock shocks just don't have enough damping on compression and rebound. The result is mushy transitional performance, brake dive, choppy feel on expansion joint and in some cases, suspension crash through.

Explaining how Bilstein HDs improve ride with increased damping is difficult. How can the ride be smoother and feel plusher if the shock is stiffer? A big part of improvement comes from Bilstein's patented digressive valving system that helps soak up initial shock loads before full damping is achieved. This takes off the edge of most impacts and completely changes the feel of the car. An unusually high number of customers have called back with praise of Bilsteins. One customer went so far as to say, "You guys are too subtle in your ads for these things, you've got to let people know that this is the fix!"

Bilstein Touring Class

Introducing Bilstein econo touring class replacement twin tube gas pressure shocks and struts.

They feature the same German engineering and quality as the world famous Bilstein monotube gas pressure shock - but in a new, competitively priced twin-tube design.

Bilstein econoTC shocks and struts feature genuine Bilstein technology and quality, twin tube gas pressure design, and meet or exceed original equipment specifications. They offer premium ride comfort and control characteristics.

I recently paired this touring set with the Ipd lowering springs, and the outcome was phenomenal. Ride comfort is hardly sacrificed, as the car runs slightly stiffer, however it makes up for it with the smoothness and handling improvement. Seeing as my 850 is a daily driver, I believe I've made the right choice with my combination of Bilstein+ Ipd. Thank you Ipd for your availability of Bilstein products and the excellence in quality of your very own product!

I've had these for a year now on my 2001 C70 conv, I switched to these after I just bought the car and the old shock and shock mount were all broken up. First thing I noticed - HARD RIDE, it feels like some one is hammering the car whenever I go over any bump - and I mean any.

By the way, when going over bumps, it feels that the car is bending more than the suspension - the convertibles are just too flexible. When I was living in LA - it was still ok, wasn't that many potholes on the road. Now I'm in Chicago - I don't even drive the car that often now, because it simply is uncomfortable. I'm not sure that this thing helps on handling too, it still feel like driving a truck and I stopped doing fast turns after I crashed it last year and messed up the entire front suspension ($$$)

In sum, its would be a nice upgrade for a sedan or coupe if your neighborhood got nice roads.

I replaced the shock and struts on my 1998 S70 with the Bilstein Touring. My wife and I noticed a much better ride and comfort. For those who like a softer and comfort ride, the Bilstein Touring are for you.

I installed these struts and the HD shocks in the rear. I relied on all the previous reviews on these struts. They were consistently positive. Now that I've installed them I, frankly, can't understand why everybody else raved about them. Trying to be as objective as possible, there are both positives and negatives. On the positive side, my 98 S70 does handle significantly better. On the negative side, the car rides harder than a truck. It is very unpleasant to drive. Additionally, the wheels seem to bounce across broken roads/potholes, as opposed to the shock being absorbed. This makes it hard to control on some of the rough roads here in Northeast Pennsylvania (probably not an issue in areas where winter weather doesn't take a toll on road surfaces). On balance, I believe the negatives outweigh the positives. I would not recommend these struts/shocks for a road car.

i installed a pair of these bilstein struts on my 2000 v70xc and a pair of ipd heavy duty spring seats. what a great combination, the vehicle handle so much better over bumps and it is more stable at higher speeds..if you are planning to upgrade your suspension i recommend trying this combination.

I have had these on My 850T5 for 5 Years and Love Them! They are still working great and I drive on crappy michigan roads. The handling is a huge improvement over the old tired stock ones.
