Volvo 850 » Reverse Intercooler Piping Kit
 ipd’s new reverse intercooler piping kit (RIP kit) reverses the routing of the induction tubing in turbo charged Volvo’s from 1995-1998. ipd’s kit routes the hot turbo air to the top of the intercooler and routes the cool air out the bottom. This change in routing reduces the heat that is inducted into the intercooler outlet air. Since heat rises, routing the air out the bottom of the intercooler reduces outlet temperature an average 12 degrees centigrade when measured at the throttle body inlet. The ipd RIP kit design is also 14 inches shorter than factory induction routing which results in increased throttle response and less boost lag. Ipd’s RIP kit is now powder coated instead of brushed stainless to increase the resistance to heat soak and allow for easy cleaning and better appearance under the hood. I agree with Sergio's comments 100%. Great RIP kit! Though the picture looks polished, I received mine and was initially disappointed by the brushed look. It's since grown on me, as I'm not a big fan of bling, be it exterior or under the hood... I prefer to fly in under the radar.
I decided to have Foreign Affairs install mine and was glad I did due to the nasty old tubing and inflexibility Sergio (and the forgiving techs @ Foreign Affairs) mentioned.
I purchased this kit for not much more money than the silicone I/C hoses I really needed, and got to test it on a randomly hot (95+) day. Before the RIP kit, I wouldn't have seen full boost for long if at all on that type of day even with the ECU and exhaust, but BAM, it was there, and there to stay. Sweet!

This is a nice RIP kit! (However it is NOT polished like the picture might imply.)
It's brushed stainless steel and should have been polished.
The quality is very high and it's simply the nicest shaped tubing i've seen.
Installation is straight forward but sometimes it can be tough due to the inflexibility of the silicones hoses.
As performance is concerned i honestly cannot say that the car runs faster now but it does have less bends, looks good and improves boost build up by about 0.5 seconds in my case.
1 negative point, be sure to wash the tubes, mine were not completely clean and it seemed to contain dust and possible some metal particles, might not have been cleaned on the inside after welding,brushing.

IPD did it again! Wow...next to the ECU upgrade w/exhaust, this works! Quicker acceleration, no lag and you are off! I was amazed after I had it installed and so were the guys at Chesapeake Imports. They were also impressed at the quality of the piping, clamps and hoses. There is a bit more intake noise but not overwelming. If you want more zip in your 850...this does it! Now I have to tell my wife about the added zip...she still thinks it's "her" wagon!!
